Today we will once again enjoy a new live coverage of WWE SmackDown, which this time will be broadcast live from the Amerant Bank Arena in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. The show of the blue brand will continue paving the way towards Elimination Chamber with two qualifying matches for the PLE.
Additionally, the show will feature a unique match: a one-on-one between IYO SKY and Giulia. On the other hand, Oba Femi returns to the blue brand to face Kit Wilson once again. As always, we invite you to comment on the note to give your opinion on what happens in this week's blue brand show.
WWE SmackDown begins on Netflix!
We see the arrival of some of the protagonists of tonight's show: RHIYO (Rhea Ripley and IYO SKY), Giulia, Kiana James, Charlotte Flair, Alexa Bliss, Nia Jax, Lash Legend, Damian Priest, Carmelo Hayes, and Trick Williams.
The show starts with a video recap of last week's main event.
Cody Rhodes is in charge of opening tonight's episode. "The American Nightmare" is greeted with a great ovation. Fireworks resonate in the arena. Cody greets the fans in the front rows as he heads to the ring. "Cody, Cody!" chants the audience. "Well, Fort Lauderdale, what do you want to talk about?" Rhodes asks as he looks at the big WrestleMania 42 sign.
¡Jacob Fatu bursts onto the scene!
Fatu stands in front of Cody. The Samoan makes it clear that Cody wouldn't be here and ready to talk about Elimination Chamber if it weren't for Drew McIntyre. "The Samoan Werewolf" assures that he had the match won until the Scotsman decided to intervene. "I know it. And you know it," says Jacob. However, at this moment, Cody doesn't concern him. His only concern is McIntyre. With that said, he calls out "The Scottish Psychopath" to come out and kick his ass all over Fort Lauderdale.
Nick Aldis appears on the entrance ramp. The General Manager knows how Jacob feels, just as he imagined what would happen tonight. That's why he has given McIntyre the night off. Aldis asks Fatu to accompany him to his office, where they can talk about how the Samoan can get what he wants. Meanwhile, Rhodes can finish his promo, as scheduled.
¡Drew McIntyre interrupts from the stands!
The Scotsman thanks Nick for giving him the night off. However, he is the champion of the brand and does what he wants. Besides, he loves SmackDown so much that he has rented a VIP box just for himself. "Jacob, I heard you talk without thinking. I'm right here, man. All gas, no brakes? More like, barking dog, little biter. What are you going to do?", Drew asks to provoke Jacob. He gets out of the ring to run towards the stands, but several security members stop him. Fatu gets rid of some of them, at which point Nick approaches him. The General Manager tries to convince him to do the right thing. Otherwise, he will be forced to suspend him. Fatu reluctantly agrees. Jacob retreats backstage with Nick.
Meanwhile, Drew boasts about what happened, pointing out that everyone is after him. Although it is understandable, as he is the Undisputed Champion of WWE. Cody interrupts him. "The whole world is not after you because you are the champion. The whole world is after you because you are an asshole!", he exclaims before throwing the mic on the canvas. Rhodes poses in one of the corners while McIntyre raises his championship. Both exchange glances before leaving. This is how we reach the end of the first segment of the night.
Ilja Dragunov meets Carmelo Hayes backstage. Ilja hopes that Hayes does the best he can as the great champion he is: not to fail. And that means that tonight he will win his qualifying match to get his pass for Elimination Chamber. Carmelo thanks him for his words but indicates that he doesn't need to be reminded of who he is. Dragunov apologizes for his effusiveness. However, he still believes in what he said. He knows that Melo will make it to WrestleMania, but he will do it without the United States Championship around his waist. Ilja reminds him that they both have a pending match, and he will win it to regain the gold. However, everything in its time, as tonight he has another opponent to deal with. The Russian's theme music begins to play. Ilja heads to the ring to end this brief segment.
Jacob Fatu and Nick Aldis converse backstage. Fatu makes it clear that he has a lot of respect for Aldis, but he still wants Drew and can't wait. The General Manager reminds him that both have had to learn to be patient to get to where they are. And that's exactly what he asks of him: a little more patience, promising that he will give him Drew McIntyre. "I will give you Drew McIntyre, but I need you to wait. Can you do it for me?", Nick asks. "I won't wait much longer", says "The Samoan Werewolf" before leaving the arena.
Ilja Dragunov vs. Tama Tonga (with Solo Sikoa, Talla Tonga, JC Mateo, and Tonga Loa)
Dragunov kicks Tama as soon as the bell rings. Ilja unleashes a rain of chops in one of the corners. Tama responds with a right hand, knocking down the Russian to mercilessly kick him in the opposite corner. Ilja recovers to kick Tonga, whom he later surprises with a release german suplex. A new kick ends with Tama at ringside.
Tama surprises Dragunov with a Guillotine Rope before returning to the ring. Tonga kicks Ilja, preventing him from executing a discus lariat. Dragunov falls to ringside. Tama doesn't take long to go after him to continue hitting him. Tonga takes Ilja back into the ring, where he continues to punish him. Tama throws the Russian against one of the corners.
Dragunov responds with two corner clotheslines, followed by a powerslam. Ilja finishes him off with a diving knee drop. 1..2..NO. Tama prevents the Russian from climbing back up the corner to execute a spinning neckbreaker. Both men exchange attacks until they both fall with a simultaneous clothesline. Dragunov and Tonga stand up to start a new exchange of attacks.
Ilja catches Tama to execute two consecutive German suplexes. Tama blocks a third, only to be struck by a discus lariat. 1..2..NO. The Russian looks to gain height to launch himself onto his opponent. Tama evades and responds with a Flatliner. 1..2..NO. Dragunov blocks Tama’s next attack and slams him against the mat. Ilja heads to the top of one of the turnbuckles to dive with a diving senton.
Dragunov prepares to finish off Tama, but JC Mateo distracts him from the apron. The Russian deals with Mateo, and at that moment Tama tries to surprise him. However, Dragunov kicks him in the face. Now it’s Tonga Loa who distracts Dragunov. Tama takes advantage of the situation to catch the Russian off guard with a Cut Throat. 1..2..3.
Winner: Tama Tonga
Solo Sikoa takes the mic to address the fans. "Did you think I was playing!? Well, I wasn’t. This is MFT. This is my show. And this is what’s going to happen from now on", says Solo before being ambushed by Dragunov. The entire MFT group pounces on the Russian to begin a beatdown. Matt Cardona and Apollo Crews rush out to help Ilja, but they are quickly driven back by Talla and Loa. Suddenly, the arena lights go out...
The Wyatt Sicks appear on the arena screen. Uncle Howdy addresses Sikoa. "Solo, it’s become clear that you use your family as a crutch to stand tall. If you are the bright light, it’s time to show everyone that you can stand on your own. The next time I step into that ring, I will be alone. I will expose every insecurity you’ve hidden from the fireflies. The only question is: will you show up?", Howdy asks as he ends his promo with laughter.
Nick Aldis approaches Drew McIntyre backstage. The General Manager scolds the Scotsman for disobeying his orders. McIntyre points out that he was just having fun. Nick, however, is not amused. "You’ve crossed the line. Keep provoking me and I’ll show you what I’m capable of", says Aldis. Drew tells him to relax. "I’ll do you a favor and leave right now. You just relax," says the Undisputed WWE Champion before walking off.
Byron Saxton interviews Randy Orton backstage. "The Viper" recalls that at Elimination Chamber he will face five other opponents, one of them his great friend Cody Rhodes. Aleister Black and Zelina interrupt the interview. Zelina points out that Orton has only one path to follow if he wants to win, and he knows it very well. Aleister states that there was a time when no one could get close enough to Randy without ending up with a massive headache. But Orton is no longer the man he used to be. "Where is that man?" the Dutchman asks. "I think we should dig a little deeper inside your head", he adds. Randy knows exactly what he’s trying to do, and he won’t succeed. Besides, the only version of himself he needs to kick his ass is the one standing right in front of him, so he invites Black to trade his suit for his ring gear and face him tonight. With that said, Randy leaves to find Nick Aldis to make the match official. "You may think he’s buried. But consider me the shovel that’s going to dig him up. Let’s go", says Black to his wife before leaving.
Byron Saxton interviews Nia Jax and Lash Legend backstage. Nia interrupts Byron to point out that tonight she will compete in an Elimination Chamber qualifying match. And once she wins, she will prepare for next week’s WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship match. Lash, meanwhile, is disappointed that there are still doubts that The Irresistible Forces dominate the women’s division. Doubts they will erase at WrestleMania. With that said, the two women leave the area.
Jade Cargill makes her entrance to the ring. The WWE Champion makes it clear that she defends her title whenever she wants. Last week, Jordynne Grace brought her very best to try to defeat her, but it wasn’t enough. And that’s what happens to every woman on the roster. They all shout loudly, claiming they can do it, but in the end, they suffer the same fate. "Liv, I know you’re watching. And I know you’ll make your decision next Monday in Atlanta. And luckily for me, that’s where I live", says Jade before announcing that she will be present at the show to stand face to face with the member of The Judgment Day when she makes her decision. Cargill also addresses the potential winners of Elimination Chamber to make it clear that no matter who wins, they will stand no chance against her. "When it’s all said and done at WrestleMania, I’ll still be WWE Women’s Champion, because I’m still that bitch", she says before throwing the microphone onto the mat.
Cargill leaves the ring and heads backstage. Jade raises her title on the entrance ramp when Charlotte Flair makes her entrance. Cargill approaches and raises her championship in front of her. However, Charlotte ignores her and continues walking. Annoyed, Jade steps in front of her again and raises the title next to her face. "You heard me. I’m the WWE Women’s Champion," says "The Storm." "WHOOO!" exclaims "The Queen," silencing her. The two women square off as several referees rush out to separate them. Jade is escorted backstage while Charlotte continues her way to the ring.
Elimination Chamber Qualifying Triple Threat Match
Nia Jax vs Charlotte Flair vs Kiana James
Charlotte and Nia square off. Annoyed at being ignored, Kiana approaches them, only to receive an elbow from Flair. Nia knocks down "The Queen," and James offers her an alliance. Jax responds by grabbing her by the throat. Nia takes out both opponents before delivering Running Hip Attacks in opposite corners. James also receives a Stink Face for good measure. Charlotte sends Jax out of the ring.
James surprises Flair to take control of the match. Kiana hits an elbow drop. 1..2..NO. James traps Flair in a headlock. Nia tries to return, but Kiana kicks her, sending her off the apron. James delivers several corner spears to Charlotte. Nia returns. Flair and Kiana decide to team up against Jax, but she quickly knocks them both down. Nia attempts a double suplex on Charlotte and James, but the two women execute the same combined move on her. Immediately, Kiana rolls up Charlotte. 1..2..NO. Flair dives onto James with a diving crossbody.
Charlotte unleashes a flurry of attacks on both opponents. Flair drops James with a handspring clothesline. Charlotte continues her offense on Jax. James kicks Nia from the apron. Byron Saxton interviews Rhea Ripley and IYO SKY backstage. Rhea "regrets" that Nia didn’t win and congratulates Kiana James on qualifying. Meanwhile, IYO assures that James’ partner won’t be as lucky tonight. Ripley promises to wipe the floor with Giulia, while IYO will win her qualifying match next Monday. Saxton wonders if being so focused on Elimination Chamber could cost them in their upcoming title defense. Rhea acknowledges they are very focused on the PLE, but reminds him that they are champions and, as such, are used to dealing with pressure. "Nia and Lash don’t stand a chance. And as for Elimination Chamber, may the best woman win", says SKY with a smile to her partner. The two walk off, ending the interview.
Kit Wilson vs. Oba Femi
Wilson refuses to enter the ring, prompting the referee (Victoria D'Errico) to order the bell to be rung. Kit grabs a microphone to point out that Oba has matured a lot since the last time they met. So, from feminist to feminist, he wants to read him a poem he has written: "Ode to Oba Femi." The Brit steps onto the apron, where he begins to recite.
"Oba Femi, forgive my doubts.
Now I see the greatness people speak of.
You are impressive, incredible, born to rule!
with all these people chanting your name."
"Oba, Oba, Oba," chant the fans.
"Oba, I thought you were a brute.
Now I know that wasn’t fair,
because when I look into your eyes, Oba,
I see a teddy bear."
A smiling Femi approaches Kit to say it was a very nice gesture on his part. However, now he wants to hear another poem. Wilson regrets to inform him that he had only written one. "Read another," the Nigerian insists. "READ!" he shouts when Kit tries to explain he has nothing else prepared. Wilson attempts to calm him with the promise of reading an older poem: "Nine Things I Hate About Men."
"I hate how they think shouting louder makes them stronger.
I hate how they think they’re never wrong.
Toxic!
I hate how they act without shame or regret.
Always comparing the size of their unseasoned beef.
Toxic!
I hate how they strut around like self-proclaimed kings.
I hate every time they step into this ring.
I hate all their marks of masculinity.
I hate... The Ruler. Oba, your toxicity..."
Furious, Femi grabs the Brit and slams him onto the mat. He then delivers a painful chop. Oba charges at Kit again and again in one of the corners. Kit blocks one of the attacks, only for "The Ruler" to catch him and slam him down. A Fall From Grace brings the match to an end. 1..2..3.
Winner: Oba Femi
Nick Aldis is speaking with a production crew member in front of the mysterious box that cannot be opened until February 28. R-Truth appears on the scene. The former United States Champion believes the box contains a prize for the Elimination Chamber winner, and he wants it. He has won many of them, but now he wants a Grammy. "Wait, don’t you mean a Slammy (Award)?" Nick asks. "I’ve never heard of that before," R-Truth replies. The General Manager instructs his employee to send the box — and whatever it contains — back to Monday Night Raw so that Adam Pearce can deal with it. Damian Priest appears. Priest shakes Aldis’ hand. The GM asks if he’s ready for his qualifying match tonight. R-Truth, meanwhile, places a hand on the Puerto Rican’s shoulder to remind him that only one of them can go to WrestleMania. Aldis informs R-Truth that only Damian has a qualifying match for Elimination Chamber. The response surprises R-Truth. "Some GM you turned out to be. You’ve mixed up our balls again, Nick. I liked you better when you were bald. I want bald Nick back!" exclaims R-Truth before walking away. Once alone, Damian thanks Aldis for the opportunity, noting that he only needs two wins to punch his direct ticket to WrestleMania. The Puerto Rican leaves, ending the segment.

Tiffany catches Fyre to deliver a Rolling senton. Then, she climbs to the top turnbuckle to execute a decisive Prettiest Moonsault Ever. 1..2..3.

Cody Rhodes meets Sami Zayn backstage. Cody wants the Canadian to know he shouldn’t be ashamed of last week’s loss. Sami isn’t — because the one who should feel that way is Rhodes. Zayn reminds him that last week he did what was supposed to be right, helping him when Drew McIntyre was attacking him. And what did he get in return? A Cross Rhodes that ended his hopes of qualifying for Elimination Chamber. "You stabbed me in the back," says the Canadian.
Rhodes regrets what happened, but reminds him that it was chaos. Besides, the match wasn’t over, and he simply took the opportunity that presented itself. And that’s exactly what has kept Sami from becoming champion: he doesn’t know how to seize his opportunities. Sami fires back, pointing out that Cody has had everything handed to him. It makes sense — he’s WWE’s new "golden boy." Meanwhile, he has worked hard for 10 years. But it’s pointless, because every time he’s close to reaching his goal, something goes wrong. Annoyed, Rhodes asks where Sami was when he lost the championship in Germany because of Jacob Fatu. "It’s not me. It’s not the system. The only thing standing in your way is yourself," says Rhodes before walking off. Furious, Sami slaps a water bottle, sending it flying.
A smiling Trick Williams approaches Sami. "With friends like Cody Rhodes, who needs enemies?" he asks mockingly. Williams tells him that tonight he’ll do what Sami couldn’t last week: finish the job. With that, he walks off. Sami runs after Rhodes. The Canadian apologizes to "The American Nightmare," saying he’s going through a rough time. Zayn knows Cody will be champion again. It’s only a matter of time. But he also hopes he remembers that someone once helped him on his path to gold. "I won’t forget," Cody says before leaving.

Meanwhile, Candice LeRae tries to convince Nick Aldis to do something to help her husband, who remains deeply depressed after losing Axiom’s mask. We see Johnny Gargano lying face down on top of the box. Aldis reminds LeRae that the mask belongs to Axiom. Besides, Gargano needs a psychologist, not a General Manager. Jordynne Grace approaches Aldis, but Candice refuses to let her speak to him, pointing out that they are currently discussing business. Grace warns her that if she talks to her like that again, she’ll have a bigger problem than the empty shell she has for a husband. Candice makes it clear she won’t allow anyone to speak about him that way. The two begin arguing until Nick quickly intervenes. The General Manager schedules them for next week to settle their frustrations inside the ring. Grace accepts. Candice orders her husband to get off the box because they need to go home. This brings the segment to an end.
Jade Cargill finishes a photoshoot backstage and runs into B-Fab. "Oh, you’re back. Coming for more?" asks a confident Cargill. "Actually, I’m waiting in line behind two others," B-Fab replies. A kendo stick appears on screen. We see Michin holding it. "Did you forget that you injured me and put me out for two months? Did you think I was just going to disappear?" Michin asks before teasing a strike. B-Fab advises her friend not to attack the Women’s Champion right now. It’s better to do it when she least expects it. Michin agrees. She just wanted to see her scared. "It’s better if we hurt that ego, damage that pride, and take that title. That way she won’t have to worry about WrestleMania," says Michin. "Whatever," Jade replies before walking off. The segment ends.
Giulia vs. Rhea Ripley
The two women lock up, with Rhea cornering Giulia. The United States Champion shoves the Australian before slapping her. Giulia traps Ripley in a submission hold. The Miz approaches Oba Femi to congratulate him on his impressive performance tonight. In fact, he can already picture him headlining WrestleMania in the future. Now, as locker room leader following John Cena’s retirement, it’s his duty to guide the next generation. And he’ll do so with his three values: mastery, inspiration, and focus. "I can show you the ropes, inside and outside the ring, to take you where you belong," he says. "How about next week?" Oba replies. The Miz gladly agrees. "I’ll go speak with Aldis about it," says "The Ruler" before walking away. The Miz’s smile instantly fades as he realizes what just happened. "No, wait! Not a match. Not a match!" he shouts.
Charlotte Flair talks with Alexa Bliss in the locker room. Flair assures her partner that she’s not upset after tonight’s loss. She’s had enough time to accept that she won’t be in Elimination Chamber. "I know it’s hard for you, but you’ll be fine," says "The Queen." Bliss says it’s only natural she’d be angry. Charlotte insists she’s not. She may have lost, but Alexa will be in the Chamber. "My best friend will be in the Chamber. I WON’T. I’m... I’m fine. You want to know why? Because I’ve evolved in a major way," she says.
Giulia and Kiana James approach them mockingly. James wonders if Alexa will be okay in Elimination Chamber without her partner’s help. Bliss reminds Kiana that she promised Giulia would become a triple champion, yet now Alexa is the one heading to the PLE. JC Mateo, Tonga Loa, and Talla Tonga leave. Sikoa stays behind. Solo congratulates Tama on his victory tonight, making it clear how proud he is of him. He reminds him he’s been by his side from the beginning and has never betrayed him. Solo knows he’ll be United States Champion someday, but for now they must focus all their efforts on preventing The Wyatt Sicks from reclaiming the lantern. "Without this, they are nothing. Trust me," says Sikoa before leaving. Tama senses someone behind him. It’s Shinsuke Nakamura. He tells Tama he has allowed Solo Sikoa to drag him into a war where he’s just another soldier. Sikoa will never allow him to be himself. Tama insists that he already is. "Prove it. The next time you compete, leave your Family Tree in the forest. Let’s see what Tama Tonga is truly capable of," says Nakamura before walking away. Tama remains thoughtful as the segment ends.
