Vince Russo once again demonstrated that he has never been a supporter of conventional storylines. In a recent interview, the former writer talked about a plot he had considered for Juggalo Championship Wrestling, but was ultimately discarded before seeing the light of day.
During his time on the Two Man Power Trip podcast, Russo explained that the idea revolved around Mecha Wolf and a mysterious figure dressed in riot gear. The key detail was on the attacker's back: the initials "ICE," an element intended to create immediate impact.
I wanted to do an angle where someone would show up in full riot gear with 'ICE' on the back trying to take Mecha Wolf away. And when ICE was revealed, I wanted it to be Glacier.
The creative intention was to play with Glacier's nickname —whose name refers to ice— and use the acronym as a nod, not as a literal reference to political or immigration issues. However, Russo acknowledged that the social context would have sparked an explosive reaction before being able to develop the story to its conclusion.
He explained that the plan required several weeks of buildup before the final reveal, but he doubted that the audience or social media would allow the narrative to progress without generating immediate controversy. In his opinion, the controversy would have erupted after the character's first appearance.
The creative, known for betting on unexpected twists and provocative angles during his time in WCW and other companies, admitted that the idea never had real room to thrive. Beyond the challenging tone with which he recounted the anecdote, the case reflects how certain concepts, even if intended as narrative games, can be conditioned by the context and sensitivity of the moment.
Glacier was a character portrayed by Raymond Lloyd in WCW in the mid-nineties, presented with an aesthetic clearly inspired by fighting video games like Mortal Kombat. His debut was surrounded by a strong promotional campaign, with vignettes showing him training in martial arts and announcing himself as an almost mystical force associated with "ice." On screen, he combined karate moves with theatrical staging and visual effects that aimed to set him apart from the rest of the roster. Although the character generated initial excitement, he never quite solidified as a main figure within the company.
