After his official retirement at the Royal Rumble 2026, AJ Styles has begun a new behind-the-scenes role in WWE. During his podcast Phenomenally Retro, the former world champion revealed that his new role involves evaluating and guiding the wrestlers of tomorrow, stating: "I'm online reviewing talent because that's part of my job now. I look for different wrestlers and see what I can do to help them improve in small things."
Styles not only focuses on the independent scene, but also has his sights set on the internal talent of NXT and the main roster. The "Phenomenal One" will travel to events to work closely with the roster, starting with the upcoming RAW in Seattle. "Sometimes people just need someone to talk to about how they feel or what they want to work on. If I can help maintain high morale and support talent in a positive way, that's what I want to do," he explained about his mentoring role.
The veteran made it clear that his role is to serve as a bridge for those seeking an opportunity through programs like WWE ID. Styles detailed that his goal is to facilitate the process for prospects to take the next step: "If there's a chance they can get something like a WWE ID or get closer to the company, I hope to help make that happen."
Although his new position is just taking off, Styles is motivated by influencing the confidence of wrestlers as they adapt to the industry. "There are many different things involved in this role and, over time, the work will probably change and grow," Styles concluded, who, after his defeat against GUNTHER and his induction into the Hall of Fame, is now dedicated to polishing the next generation of superstars.
