Marina Shafir has confirmed that she will be present to support Ronda Rousey in her highly anticipated return to mixed martial arts. The fight will take place on May 16 at the Intuit Dome in Los Angeles, where Rousey will face Gina Carano on a card promoted by MVP (Most Valuable Promotions).
The event, which will be broadcast live on Netflix, will mark Rousey's return to MMA after nearly a decade away from the sport. Shafir, a close friend of the former champion and longtime companion in both MMA and professional wrestling, expressed her excitement about the fight.
I am very excited for her. This is something very visceral for Ronda. People have no idea what some athletes go through to get back to doing what they love. I am very excited for what's to come and also very excited to be there.
The relationship between Rousey and Shafir dates back to their years in the world of mixed martial arts, where they crossed paths before transitioning their careers to professional wrestling.
After her departure from WWE in 2023, Rousey had a brief stint on the independent circuit and in Ring of Honor, where she teamed up with Shafir in several matches. Since then, both have maintained a close relationship inside and outside the ring.
