Tom Brady, one of the greatest American football stars of all time, has set the Internet on fire in the last few hours after mocking WWE superstars and, consequently, the professional wrestling business, for being a scripted medium that only offers "fake shit" to viewers.
His statements took place in a recent interview for Sports Illustrated as part of the promotion for the Fanatics Flag Football Classic Draft, where he will serve as captain of one of the tournament teams. At one point, he was asked how many WWE superstars it would take to take him down.
"Everything they do is so pretty and scripted, and they know what's going to happen. In a football game, you don't know. They wouldn't even come close to me. Plus, if I had a good offensive line, those guys would hit them straight in the throat and probably end up crying. There's no fake shit like that in football," Brady replied.
As expected, some superstars have responded to the legend to hit back. Charlotte Flair, for example, wrote the following: "That's a lot of words to say, 'if I had five guys protecting me, maybe I'd be safe'".
Danhausen, the company's latest signing, went even further, threatening Brady with a curse. "It only takes one WWE superstar to CURSE Tim Bordy", he wrote. The Bella Twins went a bit further, suggesting that either of them could take him down. "I bet I can take you down", one of the Bellas wrote on her X account.
Regardless of the intention behind his statements, Brady has achieved his goal of drawing attention to the game he was promoting. As for WWE superstars, they have taken the former quarterback's words in good humor. However, considering it's WWE, this episode may end up becoming part of a storyline or with Brady being invited to an upcoming company show.
