WWE faces the final stretch towards WrestleMania 42, the biggest event of the year, which will take place in just 23 days. In recent weeks, the company has added several matches to the Show of Shows' card. Meanwhile, fans continue to wonder what role some of the most prominent talents on the roster will play, such as IYO SKY, Sami Zayn, or Gunther.

The case of "The Ring General" is particularly curious, as the Austrian has disappeared from the company's television programming in recent weeks. Nevertheless, it seems that the wrestler is still part of WWE's plans for the grand event, as reported in the most recent edition of Wrestlevotes Radio.

"Wrestlevotes Radio on Fightful Select reports that sources within WWE claim that Gunther is still expected to have a significant role at WrestleMania, despite his recent absence. Gunther has not been seen since unmasking Dragon Lee. A source noted that missing WrestleMania would not benefit any of the parties involved," wrote Fightful.

According to recent reports, WWE planned to pit Gunther against Rey Mysterio. However, the masked wrestler is still dealing with a rib injury. At the moment, it is unknown if the wrestler will be medically cleared in time for WrestleMania. If not, it is expected that WWE will have a Plan B. Otherwise, Gunther would miss his first WrestleMania as a main roster superstar.

After starring in the longest Intercontinental reign in WWE history and winning the World Heavyweight Championship twice, Gunther has become "The Career Killer." In just two years, the Austrian has ended the careers of Goldberg, John Cena, and AJ Styles, making him the most hated heel in the company. It remains to be seen if WrestleMania marks the end of another career at the hands of the European.
