TNA Wrestling is in the eye of the storm after sparking the new controversy that is shaking the professional wrestling business. The company owned by Anthem Media has decided to withdraw its talent from those scheduled matches against wrestlers from All Elite Wrestling in the independent scene. TNA has argued that this is a decision made due to scheduling issues, although everything points to their relationship with WWE as the main reason for this controversial policy.
As expected, many voices have risen against it, such as MJF, who strongly criticized Carlos Silva, president of TNA. More measured has been the response of Kenny Omega, who firmly believes that collaboration between companies would be positive for the business. He explained this in a recent statement to The Takedown.
"If you're in a bubble for too long and you don't realize what exists outside of it and how small it is, and in this case we're talking about professional wrestling, I think you start running into problems like this, where someone will think they're better than someone else, and that there's no reason to work together, and they don't see the positive side," he said.
"They can only see the negative and the disadvantages," he continued. "And I still think we're at a point where professional wrestling can be more than what it is. And I do believe that if there were situations where we could all get along, then I really think the business as a whole would move in a more positive direction, we would see a more favorable trend."
"I understand that, with the amount of money at stake, it's a very delicate issue and a very sensitive matter. And if we reach a point where we start doing cross-promotions or have wrestlers facing talent affiliated with WWE, for example, it becomes a delicate issue in terms of how we promote it. Who wins? Who loses? And I'm not specifically saying who wins or loses on paper, but who benefits or is harmed as a promotion. Which company will come out looking the strongest? Who will seem to have gained something from this scenario?," he concluded.
TNA's controversial policy will prevent Moose from competing in the MLP Multiverse event, where he had already been announced. In addition, two other scheduled matches, Leon Slater vs. Ricochet and MJF vs. Nic Nemeth, have also been canceled. Nemeth himself confirmed the news, pointing to TNA's alliances and brands as responsible for this decision.
