WWE is celebrating a new episode of Monday Night Raw tonight, this time number 1,716, from the Golden 1 Center in Sacramento, California. This will be the last episode of the red brand before WrestleMania 42 and will be broadcast live on Netflix. Solowrestling will bring you the results in this news as every week.
Tonight's episode will feature several matches and segments of interest, with some of the main event stars confirmed for tonight, including Roman Reigns, CM Punk, Brock Lesnar, and Seth Rollins. As always, we invite you to comment on the article to give your opinion on what happened on the show.
WWE Raw starts on Netflix!
Roman Reigns delivers a video promo directed at CM Punk. "The OTC" knew exactly how "The Best in the World" would act when their rivalry began: behaving like a hypocrite in front of WWE fans. Roman assures that no one believes in the champion anymore, but in him. That's why he will give him one last chance. "You tell the truth tonight, or I will", says the Samoan to end the video.
We see the arrival of some of tonight's stars: CM Punk, Stephanie Vaquer, Charlotte Flair (with Alexa Bliss), and Gunther.
We see a video recap of the altercation between Brock Lesnar and Oba Femi last week.
Triple H and Adam Pearce welcome us from the center of the ring. To avoid situations like those experienced in previous weeks, and to protect the plans for WrestleMania, Pearce has decided that Oba Femi and Brock Lesnar will sign the contract for their match at the grand event separately.
Paul Heyman interrupts the General Manager to acknowledge that he made the right decision because this week, the week of WrestleMania, no one can get close to "The Beast," BROOOOOOOCCK LEEEEEEESNAR.
Brock Lesnar makes his entrance!
Lesnar and Heyman head to the ring. "The Beast" quickly takes the document to sign his name. Heyman points out that the story has already been written, specifically Oba Femi's obituary. "You won't even remember his name after this weekend!" exclaims Lesnar. Paul, on the other hand, promises that this Sunday there will be a winner and a loser. And the name of the latter will be Oba Femi. "There will be a winner. The greatest combat sports athlete in history: 'The Conquerer,' BROOOOOCK LEEEESNAR!". With that said, both men leave the ring to head backstage. Lesnar stops for a few seconds to smile before continuing on his way.
We see a pre-recorded video in a training ring. Logan Paul and Austin Theory meet with IShowSpeed to help him train for his match at WrestleMania. However, the influencer is concerned, reminding them that he is not a wrestler. This weekend he will have his first match, and it will be at WrestleMania. "It doesn't matter. You're not a wrestler? So what. Doubts don't suit you, brother! You're a phenomenon!", exclaims Logan. Theory, on the other hand, reminds him that The Usos are not tag team champions because of him. He also attacked LA Knight. These three people hate him, so he will have to learn to deal with it. If he thinks what happened at his house with "The Megastar" was tough, he doesn't know what awaits him in the ring. Logan insists that many people hate him. But not them. They support him, and they are here to help him train. More encouraged, IShowSpeed begins training. Little by little, the influencer gains confidence and executes the moves better. His companions even have to interrupt a Boston Crab so he doesn't destroy his training opponent. "I'm ready! Let's go! LET'S GO!", he exclaims while raising Logan and Austin's arms. This is how we reach the end of this promotional video.
Charlotte Flair (with Alexa Bliss) vs. Lyra Valkyria (with Bayley)
Charlotte and Valkyria observe each other carefully before starting a feeling-out phase. Lyra catches Flair in a headlock on the mat. Charlotte reverses the hold into a headscissors, but the Irishwoman uses her agility to free herself. Flair takes down Valkyria before taunting Bayley. Lyra responds with several slaps, enraging "The Queen".
Valkyria takes down Flair with two consecutive spinning kicks. 1..2..NO. Lyra and Charlotte take the fight to one of the corners. Flair surprises Lyra with a kick to the face. Valkyria blocks a new kick before executing a sweeping kick. As a result, "The Queen" falls to ringside, where she receives the impact of a rope dropkick. Lyra jumps on Charlotte. She moves out of the way to respond with a big boot.
Flair takes Valkyria back into the ring, where she repeatedly hits her opponent's head against the mat. 1..2..NO. Charlotte catches Lyra in a headscissors to throw her back and forth on the mat. Valkyria recovers to take down Flair, whom she finishes off with a bridging suplex. 1..2..NO. Charlotte surprises the Irishwoman with a kick to the face before launching a diving crossbody. Flair continues with a rain of chops to finish with a handspring clothesline.
Flair seeks height on one of the corners, only for Lyra to make her fall. Valkyria finishes off "The Queen" with a diving legdrop directly to the back of the neck. 1..2..NO. Lyra jumps with a moonsault, but meets Charlotte's knees. Still, the Irishwoman manages to surprise her with a roll-up. 1..2..NO. Flair knocks out Lyra to finish her off with a moonsault. 1..2..NO. "The Queen" can't believe it.
Lyra blocks a Natural Selection to respond with a crucifix pin. 1..2..NO. Both women exchange attacks. Valkyria surprises Flair with a Fisherman Suplex. 1..2..NO. Charlotte blocks Lyra's Nightwing to throw her out of the ring. The Irishwoman lands on Bayley. Flair takes her back into the ring, where she covers her. 1..2.. Bayley grabs Charlotte's leg to make her slip. Thus, now it's Lyra who covers "The Queen". 1..2..3.
Winner: Lyra Valkyria
Lyra and Bayley celebrate in the center of the ring when Alexa and Charlotte confront them. Flair pushes "The Role Model," who quickly responds in the same way. The two pairs push and confront each other, forcing the referee to intervene to separate them. Flair and Bliss decide to leave to avoid a fight.
The Usos and LA Knight talk backstage. "The Megastar" asks them if they saw the training video of IShowSpeed. "No. I saw you beat him up," Jimmy responds mockingly. Suddenly, MFT appear on the scene. "What are you doing here?" Jimmy asks, surprised. Solo Sikoa addresses his men, indicating that his family only causes trouble. First Jacob Fatu on SmackDown. Then Tama Tonga, whose whereabouts are unknown. And on top of that, his older brothers are giving a bad image to their family by teaming up with a clown like "The Megastar." "Well, little brother. It seems you also have a big problem," says Jimmy. LA Knight, for his part, cuts this matter short by challenging Sikoa and his men to a tag team match later that night. With that said, he heads to Adam Pearce's office to get the match scheduled. "What will you do?" Solo asks Jey. He simply makes the YEET gesture before leaving with Jimmy.
Penta makes his entrance. The fans welcome him with a great ovation. The Intercontinental Champion greets the Sacramento audience from the entrance ramp before sharing a message. "This Sunday, at WrestleMania, there will be danger. There will be chaos. There will be pain. I know the pain, and I will bring it to everyone who faces me because this is not just a match. It's war!", exclaims the Mexican. His promo abruptly ends as he bids farewell to the fans.
Stephanie Vaquer makes her entrance. The Chilean heads to the ring, where Cathy Kelley awaits her. She reminds her that her rivalry with Liv Morgan has become very personal. Suddenly, Morgan bursts into the ring to attack the World Champion from behind! The push causes Vaquer to collide with Kelley, who falls to ringside. Liv, furious, continues to attack the champion. Several officials intervene to separate them. "The First" is taken to ringside while Morgan is contained in the ring. Liv takes a microphone to challenge the champion to return to the ring. "I knew your mother was trash, but I didn't know she had raised a little b****", exclaims Morgan to provoke her. "I'm going to finish you at WrestleMania!", yells Stephanie before rushing into the ring. The fight resumes, but the officials separate them again. This time, they decide to take Liv - not without effort - back to backstage. "You're finished! YOU'RE FINISHED! You're mine! YOU'RE MINE!", shouts an angry Morgan. Meanwhile, Stephanie poses with her championship in the center of the ring. We see two officials helping a pained Cathy return backstage.
Jackie Redmond interviews IYO SKY backstage. She acknowledges that she was defeated by Jade Cargill, but she doesn't regret fighting for her friend Rhea Ripley. And no one will cheer her on more than herself at WrestleMania. The Kabuki Warriors interrupt the interview. "Rhea is not your family," says Asuka. "Last year you went to WrestleMania as a world champion, but this year you're just Rhea Ripley's companion". IYO addresses Kairi Sane directly to point out that she doesn't have to listen to Asuka. She interrupts her as she puts her arm around Sane's shoulder. "Kairi is loyal to her senpai. And she will prove it tonight... against you", says Asuka. Kairi steps forward to face off with SKY. "That's right, senpai," she says. "Good girl. Let's go," says a satisfied Asuka before taking her companion away.
Tag Team Match
LA Knight and The Usos (Jimmy and Jey Uso) vs. MFT (Solo Sikoa, Tonga Loa, and JC Mateo) (with Talla Tonga)
Mateo and Jimmy start the match. JC charges at Jimmy to start his offense. His opponent quickly stops him with a kick. Jimmy tags in Jey. Together, they get rid of Mateo. Jey dives onto JC. Jey continues to hit Mateo before taking him back into the ring. Loa distracts the referee so that Talla can surprise Jey with a clothesline. Mateo returns to ringside to attack Jey.
JC takes Jey back into the ring, where MFT takes control. "Solo stinks!" chant the fans. Sikoa exacts his revenge by punishing Jey with the help of the ropes. The referee separates him from his opponent, allowing Talla to attack him illegally. Sikoa continues to attack Jey, whom he finishes off with a running hip attack.
Sikoa traps Jey in a painful submission hold. "USO, USO!" chant the fans. Jey breaks free to hit all his opponents. Sikoa stops his momentum with a back fist. He then hits Jimmy in his corner. Solo returns for Jey, who finally surprises his younger brother with an enzuigiri. Both end up lying on the mat. Jey and Sikoa crawl to their respective corners. LA Knight and Loa receive the tag.
LA Knight takes on his three opponents at the same time. LA Knight executes a neckbreaker on Loa before applying a diving elbow drop. 1..2..NO. Mateo interrupts the count. Chaos takes over the ring and ringside. Solo blocks a suicide dive from Jey to throw him onto the commentator's table. Suddenly, Tama Tonga appears on the scene. "Where were you, huh? Where the hell were you?", Solo asks. However, Tama remains silent. Talla approaches Tama to confront him. LA Knight takes advantage of the confusion to surprise Loa with a Blunt Force Trauma. 1..2..3.
Winners: LA Knight and The Usos
We see a video recap of the attack by Pat McAfee and Randy Orton on Cody Rhodes on WWE SmackDown.
Gunther makes his entrance. The fans greet him with boos. "The Ring General" revels in the negative reaction from the audience, posing repeatedly during the commercial break. Gunther takes a microphone, but before he can say a word... Seth Rollins bursts into the ring to launch himself at the Austrian!
"The Ring General" escapes the ring. Rollins takes the microphone to order him to stay in place. Seth reminds him that he has attacked him two weeks in a row, and he still doesn't know why. Maybe Gunther wants to get along with Paul Heyman. He's not sure, but he doesn't care either because at WrestleMania, he will take care of finishing the job. Also, if this is personal for Gunther, he should return to the ring, look him in the eyes like a man, and explain why he wants to face him at the grand event.
A determined Gunther returns to the ring to face off with Seth. "Yes, I'm solving a problem for Heyman, and I'm doing it with a smile on my face because you're pissing me off. For years you've been strutting around here like you're the best in the ring, and you're not. I am! And if you were honest with yourself, you would recognize that you never wanted to find out when I was the World Heavyweight Champion. You, on the other hand, became a stooge for Paul Heyman. So at WrestleMania, it will be personal for me. I'll make it clear. It's very personal for me! I'll show the world that Seth Rollins is not on my level!", promises the Austrian as he bumps heads with Rollins. The latter quickly responds, starting a fight.
"The Visionary" kicks the Austrian out of the ring. Seth tries to stomp him on the metal stairs, but the European manages to move away just in time to take refuge behind the audience barrier. Gunther retreats backstage as Rollins poses in one of the corners.
We see a brief teaser video announcing the return of "The Demon" Finn Bálor.
Dominik Mysterio expresses his complaints to Adam Pearce. Mysterio disagrees with his father getting a title shot at WrestleMania. Also, he doesn't consider it fair to have to face "The Demon" because Finn Bálor assured him in the past that his alter ego was "dead." The General Manager responds that Rey Mysterio deserves to be at WrestleMania. As for "Demon" Finn Bálor, Pearce states that Dominik will get what he deserves at the grand event. "Have a great Monday," says Adam before leaving. A frustrated Dom insists that it's not fair.
We see Yahya Aboul-Mateen II and Dylan Cardwell in the front row.
IYO SKY vs. Kairi Sane (with Asuka)
Kairi launches herself at IYO to begin an exchange of punches on the mat. Sane sends SKY into one of the corners before hitting a sliding forearm. Kairi looks for height to dive with a diving forearm. 1..2..NO. Kairi continues attacking IYO, locking her in a headlock. SKY breaks free to take Sane down, then sends her out of the ring with a dropkick. SKY attempts an Asai Moonsault, but her opponent stops her.
IYO kicks Sane before climbing onto the crowd barricade. SKY performs a small moonsault to land on her opponent. "IYO, IYO!" chant the fans. SKY returns to the ring. Meanwhile, Asuka grabs Kairi by the arm to confront her. IYO approaches Sane to grab her other arm to help her. IYO and Asuka pull Sane. Asuka releases Kairi, causing her to collide with SKY.
Kairi sends IYO into the steel steps to regain control of the match. Sane brings her back inside the ring. Kairi hits a powerslam, followed by an elbow drop. 1..2..NO. Sane traps her opponent in a Single Crab. SKY crawls to the ropes to force the break. Kairi keeps striking SKY, forcing the referee to intervene. Asuka takes advantage to strike IYO illegally.
The match continues. SKY recovers to regain control. IYO kicks Kairi in the face before launching herself with a Missile Dropkick. SKY follows up with a running meteora. IYO prepares to execute her finisher when Sane pushes her. The action moves to the top of one of the turnbuckles. A headbutt from Sane leaves IYO hanging upside down by her legs. SKY manages to get rid of Sane, which Asuka takes advantage of to smash "The Genius of the Sky"'s head into the post.
THIS IS MY BRUTALITY!
Rhea Ripley bursts onto the scene to attack Asuka. Rhea grabs "The Empress of Tomorrow," ready to execute her Riptide, but Jade Cargill attacks her from behind! Furious, IYO launches herself with a suicide dive to take down Cargill. IYO climbs onto the apron, from where she attacks Sane. SKY ascends to the top turnbuckle, ready to finish her with the Over the Moonsault. At that moment, "The Pirate Princess" asks for the referee’s assistance, who quickly approaches her. Asuka takes advantage to make IYO fall from the turnbuckle. Kairi quickly covers SKY with a jackknife. 1..2..3.
Winner: Kairi Sane
We see a promotional video for the rivalry between AJ Lee and Becky Lynch.
Danhausen makes his entrance. Danhausen greets the Sacramento fans before reminding them that WrestleMania will take place this weekend. A very important date for him, as it will be his first grand event, and he will enter it undefeated in WWE. That said, he approaches his Cannonhausen to shoot some t-shirts into the crowd, but the machine doesn’t quite work properly (as usual). Danhausen says goodbye to the fans with his now classic blackout.
Triple H and Adam Pearce make their way to the ring. Pearce shows the WrestleMania contract already signed by Brock Lesnar. Now it’s time for Oba Femi, so he quickly introduces the Nigerian. He soon appears on the entrance ramp. "Oooooooooooooba, Oooooooooooooooba!" chant the fans as "The Ruler" heads to the ring.
Oba shakes hands with Triple H and Pearce. The latter hands him the document, which Femi promptly signs. Suddenly, Triple H points toward the entrance ramp, where Paul Heyman appears. "Oooooooooooooba, Oooooooooooooooba!" chant the fans again. Heyman recalls that he has spent his entire life in this business and has never seen a wrestler win over the crowd as quickly as the Nigerian has. Paul also admits he hasn’t seen anyone as violent as Brock Lesnar. Nor a star rising as fast as Brock Lesnar. Nor an athlete as impressive as Brock Lesnar. "Oooooooooooooba, Oooooooooooooooba!" the fans interrupt. Heyman admits they’re starting to annoy him. Heyman promises Femi that he will be "conquered" by Lesnar at WrestleMania. But he shouldn’t be ashamed of this loss, because it will happen in the true main event of the Show of Shows against the best wrestler of all. And when it’s all over, his door will always be open for the Nigerian.
Oba takes the mic, pointing out that Heyman is making a strong case for him to come over and kick his ass. The fans urge him to do it. Oba says it won’t be necessary for one reason: physical wounds heal, but the emotional wound caused by Lesnar’s defeat will never heal. Oba also makes it clear that he has already opened every door he needed. Furthermore, he knows he can defeat Lesnar. He feels it, Paul does too, and so do the fans. Femi reminds Heyman that he has accompanied Brock for years—he might even consider him a friend. However, Paul is not being honest. If he were, he would come out here and, in his energetic introduction, admit that Lesnar fears "The Ruler," because he will put an end to "The Beast." "I am the chosen one, Paul. I am, and I know it. They know it. And at WrestleMania, you will know it too," he says to close his promo. "Oooooooooooooba, Oooooooooooooooba!" chant the fans once more. Triple H shakes Femi’s hand. The three men in the ring prepare to leave as the segment comes to an end.
We see the full music video of Liv Morgan, "Trouble."
Tag Team Match
Je'Von Evans and Dragon Lee vs. Rusev and JD McDonagh
McDonagh charges at Lee as soon as the bell rings. Je'Von is hit by his own partner and falls to ringside. JD kicks Lee in one of the corners before striking Evans, preventing him from returning to his corner. McDonagh hits a suplex on Lee. 1..2..NO. Rusev tags in to continue punishing the masked wrestler. JD tags back in. McDonagh hits a side suplex on Dragon. Rusev tags in once again.
Lee escapes Rusev’s grasp with a hurricanrana to tag Je'Von. He takes down McDonagh, hitting him with a suicide dive. Evans returns to the ring to launch himself at Rusev. JD comes back to charge at Je'Von, who dodges him, sending the Irishman to ringside once more. Evans tries to dive at Rusev, but the Bulgarian stops him with a right hand.
McDonagh dives with an Asai Moonsault onto Lee, only to be taken down by Evans. He runs toward Rusev to launch himself at him, but the Bulgarian catches him mid-air and responds with a Fallaway Slam. Je'Von is sent flying over the announce table. McDonagh grabs Evans from the apron to execute a suplex onto the mat. JD follows up with a leg drop. 1..2..NO. McDonagh traps Je'Von in a headlock on the mat. Evans breaks free, only to be thrown into his opponents’ corner.
Rusev grabs Evans to attempt a superplex, but his opponent brings him down onto the mat. Je'Von hits a frog splash. Lee gets the tag. The masked wrestler comes in strong. Lee surprises McDonagh with a kick, only for the Irishman to respond with a Spanish Fly. The match descends into chaos. Je'Von sends Rusev out of the ring before launching himself with a tope. Meanwhile, Lee executes a Styles Clash on McDonagh. 1..2..3.
Winners: Je'Von Evans and Dragon Lee
Furious, Rusev charges at Lee and Evans. The Bulgarian hits a Fallaway Slam on Je'Von before crushing Dragon with a slam. Rusev prepares to apply the Accolade on Lee when suddenly...
Rey Mysterio rushes onto the scene!
Rey charges at Rusev, setting him up for the 619. However, the Bulgarian recovers to stop him with a clothesline. And now... ZERO FEAR!
Penta runs to the ring!
Rusev battles the Intercontinental Champion until he stops him with a Machka Kick. McDonagh approaches to congratulate Rusev, but he knocks him out with another Machka Kick! Rusev continues attacking everyone in the ring before applying the Accolade on Lee. Satisfied, Rusev poses over his victims while pointing at the WrestleMania sign. And with that, the segment comes to an end.
Danhausen approaches Adam Pearce in his office while he is on the phone with John Cena. Upon hearing this, Danhausen adds a new demand to his list: to speak with "The Greatest of All Time" right now. However, the General Manager refuses, telling him he can do so at WrestleMania. "I hope I can see him, because you can’t see me," says Danhausen while performing the iconic "You Can't See Me" gesture. Pearce turns to say goodbye to Cena before turning back to Danhausen, but he has already disappeared. "I guess he can’t see me either," Adam says as the segment ends.
Roman Reigns makes his entrance. The fans welcome him with a huge ovation. Reigns heads into the ring, raising his index finger to the sky as fireworks go off. "OTC, OTC!" chant the fans. "CM Punk, CM Punk!" responds another section of the crowd, only to be drowned out by chants for Roman. "Sacramento, ACKNOWLEDGE ME!" exclaims the Samoan.
CM Punk makes his entrance!
Roman looks toward the ramp, but "The Best in the World" is in the crowd. CM Punk walks down the steps calmly as "Cult of Personality" echoes throughout the arena. CM Punk greets fans along the way. He pauses by the barricade for a few seconds before climbing onto the announce table. CM Punk and Reigns exchange stares. "CM Punk, CM Punk!" chant the fans.
CM Punk recalls Roman’s opening promo and says he will now tell the whole truth. He asks Roman to interrupt him if he says anything untrue. CM Punk heads toward the ring. "Get in this ring and we won’t need these microphones," says the Samoan. CM Punk stops on the apron and continues his promo from there.
CM Punk says the truth is that he hates him, and the reason is because he envies him. CM Punk has always had a big dream since he was a child—one that Roman was given. He also hates that the Samoan was champion for 1,316 days, and hates knowing how hard he worked to become this great. "I hate how many times you’ve main evented WrestleMania… Tell me when I’m lying, Roman," CM Punk says calmly. "The Best in the World" hates feeling this way. CM Punk notes that Sika was a great man, a great champion, and a Hall of Famer, and he respects the veterans. "I hate that I mentioned your father’s name in vain, and I sincerely apologize," says CM Punk before entering the ring.
CM Punk stands face-to-face with Reigns to continue. He says he hates that there is more than one royal family in wrestling and that he isn’t part of one. He built himself up in the rough neighborhoods of Chicago and found his family on the independent scene. From there, he kept fighting around the world without being handed anything. "I hate having to share any of this with you, let alone my first singles match in a WrestleMania main event. Tell me when I’m lying," he says. CM Punk promises Reigns that he will leave WrestleMania still holding the gold as the announcer declares that "The Best in the World" remains the World Heavyweight Champion.
Roman admits this is the most genuine promo he has ever heard from CM Punk—at least until the final part. Reigns admits he also hates CM Punk, especially because of his connection with the fans. Roman wishes the WWE Universe would remember him even ten years after he leaves, just as they did with "The Best in the World." "That’s the connection you built with your fanbase, and no one can take that away from you. That’s your truth for Sunday, but it’s not reality. The reality is time’s up. I gave you two months to carry this relevance and you did nothing with it. Sunday won’t end with ‘...and still...’ It will end with ‘...and new...!’ Sunday, this little act of nostalgia, this experiment, will come to an end. Sunday, we fix this mess you started. Sunday, we take this place back to where it once was: the top, where every penny is worth it. Sunday, ‘The Tribal Chief’ will reclaim control. And you, like everyone else, will acknowledge me," Roman says to close his promo. Both men stand face-to-face as the show comes to an end.
