Santos Escobar continues to accumulate bad news in a forgettable 2026. After undergoing surgery due to a triceps rupture, the Mexican will have to go under the knife again for a new medical issue. The wrestler has been the one to announce it in a recent post on his Instagram account.

Apparently, there was a "small setback" and now he will have to be operated on to address a problem with his ulnar nerve. "It kills me not being able to be with you all this week, but to all my WWE family: have a happy WrestleMania. Love you," Escobar said.

The ulnar nerve, also known as the cubital nerve, provides motor and sensory innervation to the hand and forearm. When affected, it can cause tingling, weakness, and pain. The main drawback with this type of problem is that nerves recover slowly. So, even if the surgery goes well, sensitivity and strength may take months to return to 100%, which could keep Escobar out of action for the rest of the year.

The chain of misfortunes began at a live NXT event last January, where Santos suffered that triceps rupture. Still, the wrestler was able to compete in the Rey de Reyes tournament, although it was more than evident that he was not at 100%. Escobar's absence occurred in the midst of a rivalry with El Hijo de Dr. Wagner Jr. with the AAA Latin American Championship at stake. It remains to be seen if WWE and AAA will pick up this story again once Santos is medically cleared.
