The Sandman had his final match on April 17 at Joey Janela's Spring Break 10, held in Las Vegas. His farewell was against The Invisible Man and the duel quickly turned into a wild battle, with weapons, punches, and chaos from the start.
The big surprise came when Mick Foley appeared out of nowhere in the middle of the match. The Hardcore Legend entered the ring, attacked the Invisible Man with punches, hit his signature double arm DDT, and then used Mr. Socko to finish with the Mandible Claw, unleashing the crowd's reaction.
Despite that unexpected help, Sandman's farewell did not end in victory. The Invisible Man managed to surprise him with a roll-up and took the win, leaving Sandman with a defeat in his final professional match.
The result took a back seat to the overall spectacle. Between the violence of the match and Foley's intervention, the night offered exactly the chaotic closure usually associated with Sandman's story and the extreme energy of Joey Janela's Spring Break. The Sandman bade farewell by leaving one of his legendary beers in the ring and making several bows on the stage.
As a character, The Sandman is one of the great faces of hardcore wrestling. He debuted in ECW in the 90s, won multiple world championships in the company, and became a defining figure of the extreme era thanks to his entrance with beer, cigarette, and the classic Singapore cane.
His style was always more street fighting than traditional wrestling, which made him connect in a special way with the ECW audience. Later, he went through WWE, TNA, and various independent appearances, remaining for years as a symbol of old-school hardcore and a generation that turned chaos into identity.
