The Motor City Machine Guns (Chris Sabin and Alex Shelley) ended their professional stage in WWE abruptly after their names were included in the recent wave of layoffs that the company carried out last Friday. As is often the case in these situations, Sabin and Shelley will have to comply with a 90-day non-compete clause, so they will not be able to sign with any promotion until the end of July.
Despite this, the former WWE tag team champions will have no trouble finding a new place to compete. According to a recent report from Fightful Select, sources from TNA assured that Motor City Machine Guns will always have the doors of the company open. However, they believe that All Elite Wrestling will be their final destination.
"People we spoke to in WWE said that the duo seemed aware that they will continue to be successful and stay busy outside of WWE, and that they will continue to wrestle. They also have a band, GRPPLNG, that they will continue working on," the media outlet wrote.
"According to those same sources, it seemed like they expected to wrestle more in WWE, although they were happy that they were at least being used. However, in recent months that seemed to decrease. It was not planned for them to travel to the SmackDown tapings last week," Fightful wrote.
It is worth noting that All Elite Wrestling showed interest in Sabin and Shelley in 2024, and even made an offer. However, according to sources from the media, WWE matched that offer, which led the veteran team to sign with them. Considering their good relationship with Tony Khan and their professionalism, it seems unlikely that AEW will not show, at least, interest in incorporating them into their roster.
