Aleister Black was one of the talents affected by the recent wave of layoffs carried out by WWE. The departure of the Dutch wrestler occurred just one year after his return to the company, making this release one of the most surprising and striking on the list of layoffs.
With his departure, many wonder if Black could return to All Elite Wrestling, especially considering that it was the wrestler himself who forced his way out of Tony Khan's company to return to WWE initially. A unique case that was discussed in the most recent edition of Wrestlevotes Radio.
"Wrestlevotes Radio on Fightful Select reports that sources they spoke with within AEW do not believe Malakai Black (also known as Aleister Black) will return to AEW in the near future. Sean Ross Sapp, from Fightful, was told that the relationship is not considered completely broken," the media wrote.
Black was signed by AEW in 2021, after the wrestler was released by WWE in one of the waves of layoffs carried out during the COVID-19 pandemic. Despite leading one of the company's most important factions (House of Black), the Dutch wrestler never fully felt comfortable.
In addition to this, his personal issues must be added, which led him to step away from television programming at times, and there were even rumors that he wanted to take a break from wrestling. Finally, AEW let go of the wrestler once his contract came to an end in early 2025. This "backdoor" exit did not sit well with fans of the company, many of whom would not welcome Black back with open arms in case of a future return.
