"Jungle" Jack Perry retained the National Championship in the most recent episode of AEW Collision, which took place last night at the Peoria Civic Center in Peoria, Illinois. Perry defeated Máscara Dorada in one of the most outstanding matches of the event to secure his third title defense in just one month. The CMLL double champion proved to be a tough opponent for the champion, who had to give his all to keep the title around his waist.

Match Development

Máscara Dorada and Perry shook hands as a sign of respect before starting a first phase where holds, locks, and counters were the protagonists. Both men raised the stakes, showcasing their athletic abilities on the mat and the ropes. The action moved to ringside, where the masked wrestler delivered a tremendous Canadian Destroyer to his opponent over the audience barrier.

Máscara Dorada continued to dominate the match inside the ring. Perry managed to recover to start a quick exchange of attacks with the masked wrestler, including a champion's poisonrana that was immediately answered with a challenger's Destroyer. Jack even had the chance to end the match with a Blue Thunder Bomb, but Máscara Dorada still had a lot fight left in him.

The match continued to unfold both in the ring and at ringside, with Perry executing a moonsault and a beautifully executed hurricanrana to damage his opponent on the floor. Máscara Dorada seemed to have victory within his grasp after performing an Electric Chair Neckbreaker and a subsequent Estrella Fugaz, but it wasn't enough to defeat the champion.

The match entered its final phase, with Máscara Dorada surprising Perry with a knee strike, followed by a Crucifix Facebuster that almost secured him the win. The masked wrestler then decided to execute another Estrella Fugaz, but this time Perry was ready with his knees up. Unfortunately for the champion, Máscara Dorada was able to interrupt the subsequent three count.

Jack then took his opponent to the top of one of the corners, where they engaged in an exchange of attacks. Máscara Dorada made Perry fall, but he quickly returned to surprise the challenger with a Frankensteiner to cover him and seal his victory. After the match, Jack congratulated his opponent for a great fight, and they both returned backstage together.

Thus, Perry adds his third title defense in his first reign as the AEW National Champion. A title he won 49 days ago after emerging victorious from a Blackjack Battle Royal against 20 other men at AEW Revolution 2026's ZERO HOUR. As an additional fact, last night's match was the first one-on-one encounter between Perry and Máscara Dorada in their respective careers.
