Kevin Knight retained the TNT Championship after defeating HOOK in the main event of the latest episode of AEW Collision, which took place last night at the Peoria Civic Center in Peoria, Illinois. The champion not only had to face a tough opponent, but also the continuous interventions of Katsuyori Shibata, who did everything possible to help his partner win the gold. However, Knight overcame the odds to keep the title around his waist.
HOOK wasted no time in taking down the champion to taunt him. Meanwhile, Katsuyori Shibata, HOOK's partner, watched the match from ringside. Knight quickly responded to the challenger with a series of rapid attacks, shifting the match into a new phase. Champion and challenger exchanged blows inside and outside the ring.
The tide of the match turned in favor of HOOK at ringside thanks to Shibata's collaboration. He distracted Kevin, allowing HOOK to surprise the champion with an Exploder Suplex directly onto the audience barrier. As a result, his opponent landed on a fan. HOOK returned to the ring, where he distracted the referee, allowing Katsuyori to kick Kevin with a pump kick. Once again, the champion fell onto the audience.
Back in the ring, HOOK maintained control of the fight. The challenger tried to submit Knight with a sleeperhold, but it wasn't enough to finish him off. Kevin recovered, ready to execute a DDT, but HOOK reversed it mid-move into a bridging suplex that almost gave him the victory. Knight managed to recover to launch a counterattack. A standing UFO Splash and a tremendous dropkick in one of the corners put things in his favor, but a new intervention by Shibata thwarted all his efforts.
HOOK took advantage of the situation to launch a new assault that ended with a suplex for a nearfall. HOOK followed up with a Penalty Kick, but the champion kept interrupting the subsequent three count. It was then that Knight surprised the challenger with a roll-up. HOOK broke the three count by throwing his opponent against the ropes, where Katsuyori was waiting, but the champion knocked him out with a right hand. Kevin quickly went after HOOK to launch his final offensive, sealed with a definitive UFO Splash.
Thus, Knight adds his third title defense in his first reign as TNT Champion. A title he won 21 days ago after emerging victorious from a Casino Gauntlet Match at AEW Dynasty, where the belt was at stake, vacant due to an injury to Kyle Fletcher.
