Kota Ibushi has been out of action since last October due to a femur injury. Since then, the wrestler has undergone surgery twice. First to treat the injury itself, and later to secure a loose screw. Ibushi promised not to return until fully recovered. Well, it seems that day is getting closer. Kota has already started training in the ring and even performing some moves. This was explained in his most recent post on his Instagram account.
"My femur is still not healed, but for now, I challenge, challenge, challenge! I have to do it! That's it. Second ring in 6 months. The moonsault hit me in the face. There is still a long way to go to recover. 44 years old, 22 years of career. From kickboxing to professional wrestling, 26 years of combat life without regrets. I will do it! I wonder if the bones will be okay," Ibushi wrote.
Ibushi's injury took place in early October during his last match, which pitted him against Josh Alexander in AEW Collision. At one point in the match, Alexander carried Ibushi on his shoulders from the second rope, but they both ended up falling to ringside, with the Japanese landing badly on the ground. Kota immediately knew the injury was serious, and the medical team quickly took him to a hospital, where he received the dreaded diagnosis.
There is currently no approximate date for his return to action, and it will all depend on the pace of his recovery and, fundamentally, on the wrestler's own feelings. It is worth noting that Ibushi has suffered serious injuries in recent years, which have kept him away from the ring for too long. It is very likely that his return will mark the beginning of his final stage as a professional wrestler, all the more reason to do it in the best possible health.
