Some members of WWE's creative team objected to the Gingerbread Man's excessive prominence

The Road to WrestleMania 42 introduced a peculiar character in one of the most prominent rivalries of SmackDown. We are talking about Gingerbread Man, a nickname that Trick Williams used derogatorily to refer to Sami Zayn, and that ended up materializing into another character in the storyline.

However, what seemed like a one-night joke ended up evolving into a continuous appearance on the blue brand shows. A creative decision that was not shared by all team members, as revealed in the most recent edition of Wrestlevotes Radio on Fightful Select.

"Wrestlevotes Radio reports that several members of the creative team opposed the excessive use of the Gingerbread Man character in the recent episodes of SmackDown. A source close to the creative team described it as 'cheesy and outdated'. There was significant opposition from the creative team members as the direction of the WWE storyline was being debated," wrote Fightful.

Gingerbread Man will officially bid farewell to WWE programming in tonight's episode of SmackDown in Jacksonville, Florida. After being brutally "killed" by Sami Zayn in his latest outburst of rage, the peculiar character will have his own funeral. This will be led by Williams, who will dedicate some words in his honor. It is expected that Zayn will participate in some way in the segment.
