TBS will air today, May 13th, episode number 345 of AEW Dynamite, an event that will take place live from the North Charleston Coliseum. Tonight, Darby Allin will put the AEW World Championship on the line against Konosuke Takeshita; additionally, Kevin Knight will issue an open challenge for the TNT title.
Renee Paquette attempts to catch up with MJF backstage to ask about the upcoming match between Darby Allin and Konosuke Takeshita. She reminds him that if Allin picks up the victory, MJF will be forced to face him at Double or Nothing with his hair on the line.
MJF refuses to answer and storms off through the hallway, walking past several bald officials and staff members, including Christopher Daniels, Sonjay Dutt, John Silver and Tommaso Ciampa. Eventually, he crosses paths with Ricochet, who mocks him by saying he shouldn’t worry because he’d probably look good bald — just not as good as Ricochet himself.
Tommaso Ciampa, FTR, and The War Dogs vs. The Young Bucks, Christian Cage, Adam Copeland, and Orange Cassidy
The action moves to the crowd and the ring, where Harwood delivers a superplex to Cassidy, who responds with a DDT. FTR manages to isolate Cassidy after an illegal hit by Wheeler, but Nick comes in for the save cleaning house with kicks, Matt applies his Northern Lights suplexes, and, although Stokely tries to interfere with Cage's stolen watch, the Bucks respond with a superkick party for everyone. Cage takes advantage of a referee distraction to land a low blow on Wheeler, leaving the count at two.
The punishment intensifies on Cage's injured arm, until Copeland and Connors come in for the save. The match turns into a flying festival where Finlay is launched onto FTR and Copeland punishes Connors with an Impaler after a series of corner splashes. After a face-off between Cage and Cassidy, FTR manages to hit the Shatter Machine on Copeland, but Cassidy breaks the count just in time. In the final moments, the match spirals out of control until Connors accidentally takes down Harwood; a moment that Copeland, Cassidy, and the Bucks seize to finish him off with a Superkick Party, the Orange Punch, and a definitive Spear to secure the victory.
Winners: The Young Bucks, Christian Cage, Adam Copeland, and Orange Cassidy
A new Death Riders training vignette featuring Will Ospreay airs, with Daniel Garcia joking that “Young Boy Billy” still has a few tricks left to show. As Ospreay works through neck-strengthening drills, Jon Moxley coaches Wheeler Yuta on how to properly lock in a bulldog choke. Moxley checks in on Ospreay, asking how his neck feels, and Ospreay admits it feels better than it has in years.
Moxley then reflects on the night Ospreay won Best of the Super Juniors, saying that back then he was healthy, fearless, and able to soar freely before life became more complicated. He explains that age brings responsibility, mistakes, and pressure that can weigh a person down, but tells Ospreay that deep down nothing has really changed. According to Moxley, Ospreay can still fly except now he’s evolved into something far more dangerous, a true predator.
He tells Ospreay not to step into the ring worried about protecting his neck or preserving his legacy, but to go all out without hesitation. After barking more instructions at Yuta, Moxley returns to training while Ospreay quietly takes in every word.
A video package airs looking back at the chaotic history of Stadium Stampede matches. Chris Jericho says that this year’s battle at Double or Nothing will be “a violent dance with the devil… and bald.”
Backstage, The Demand mock Jericho for talking too much while also celebrating Mark Davis defeating Jack Perry to capture the National Championship. Meanwhile, Ricochet reveals the final additions to his seven-man team, bringing in Andrade, David Finlay and Clark Connors, all looking to get payback on The Young Bucks. Finlay makes it clear that if the situation calls for violence and pure chaos, then there is nobody more dangerous to call than The Dogs.
Speedball Mike Bailey vs. Westbrook
Both exchange counterattacks showing impressive agility, until Westbrook misses a springboard and Bailey greets him with a spinning kick straight to the corner, finishing with the Ultimate Weapon for the quick victory.
Winner: Speedball Mike Bailey
Justin Roberts enters the ring to introduce Kevin Knight, who is ready to defend his TNT Championship in an open challenge.
The challenge is answered by Brian Cage who makes his return after months and appears accompanied by Lance Archer and RPG Vice.
TNT Championship
Kevin Knight vs. Brian Cage
Cage starts by doing "curls" with Knight's body, who stands up and tries shoulder tackles, but bounces off Cage's strength. Cage avoids a DDT and lands a front kick, maintaining dominance in the corner until a kick from the ring apron sends Cage outside. Knight gains momentum for a suicide dive, but Cage fails to catch him and Knight flies past him; after this, Cage lifts him and delivers an F5 against the ring apron. Cage easily dominates and looks for the Drillclaw, but Knight escapes and uses his momentum to punish Cage's throat against the top rope.
A dropkick sends Cage out of the ring; Knight tries a somersault dive and this time Cage catches him for a powerbomb, but Knight reverses it into a hurricanrana against the steel steps. A clothesline from the ring apron finally takes down Cage, while Bailey lands a kick on Archer before he can interfere. The distraction allows Cage to hit a suplex from the apron to the inside for a two-count, while Bailey eliminates Archer with a moonsault. Knight dodges a clothesline from Cage and hits his DDT for another count, although it's not enough. Knight tries a hurricanrana from the canvas, slips, but Cage uses his brute strength to lift him, but Knight is faster to complete the move and finishes with a UFO Splash for the victory.
Winner and still TNT Champion: Kevin Knight
After the match, Mike Bailey congratulates Kevin Knight on the victory. Knight returns the respect, praising Bailey and also welcoming Brian Cage back following the hard-fought battle. Knight admits he still hasn’t fully moved on from his loss to Darby Allin, but Bailey reassures him that he sees him becoming a future World Champion. Grateful for the encouragement, Knight responds by saying Bailey is destined to hold championship gold as well.
Bailey agrees before making his intentions clear, challenging whoever wins the match between Darby Allin and Konosuke Takeshita. Although he admits the idea of seeing MJF bald sounds entertaining, Bailey says his real focus is going after Allin’s World Championship.
Reveals the brackets for the Owen Hart Men's Tournament:
Samoa Joe vs. Will Ospreay (to take place at Double or Nothing)
Mark Davis vs. "Jungle" Jack Perry
Swerve Strickland vs. Bandido (to take place at Double or Nothing)
Claudio Castagnoli vs. Brody King
We move backstage with Perry, who holds his knife and says that Mark Davis is not a champion to him; he points out that, despite having the physique of an Australian grizzly bear, Davis needed help and a golf club hit to win the National Title. Perry warns him to bring all his friends and give everything he has at Double or Nothing, but assures that after the event he will focus on his roots: winning the Owen Hart tournament and challenging for the AEW World Championship.
Will Ospreay vs. Ace Austin
Ospreay starts with a much more technical ground game, punishing Austin's left arm and shoulder. Ace tries to pick up the pace with a drop toehold and a leg drop for a two-count. Ospreay gets up immediately and lands forearms, but Austin manages to catch him in a Muta-Lock. Ospreay reaches the ropes and goes for a hurricanrana, but Austin shows his strength by stopping the move and hitting a Death Valley Driver for another two-count.
During the commercial break, Austin focuses on punishing Ospreay's neck until he reacts with a Big Boot in the corner and the Pip, Pip, Cheerio. A combination of kicks allows Ospreay to hit a Sky Twister Press. After an exchange outside the ring, Austin tries some scissors, but Ospreay greets him with a kick. Back in the ring, Ospreay lands a forearm to the back of the head followed by the Oscutter, leaving the count at two. Ospreay goes for the Hidden Blade, but Austin dodges it with a double stomp to the head. Austin dominates with corner clotheslines and scissors from the ring apron, achieving an Air Raid Crash Flatliner that almost gives him the victory.
Ospreay regains control attacking the arm joints, and although Austin escapes a springboard, he falls directly into a powerbomb from Ospreay. After an intense exchange of blows, Austin goes for The Fold, but is intercepted by a Hidden Blade. Ospreay feints with the definitive move, but decides to kick Austin's left leg and apply a cross-arm-breaker, forcing him to submit immediately.
Winner: Will Ospreay
After the match, Ospreay shows respect to Austin and assures the audience that his neck is fine. Samoa Joe interrupts accompanied by Katsuyori Shibata and Anthony Bowens. Joe reminds Ospreay that fate will pit them against each other in the first round of the Owen Hart tournament and questions his decisions. Joe states that if Ospreay had joined "The Opps," he would have had a clear path, but he chose to be Jon Moxley's "lapdog." Joe declares that at Double or Nothing, Ospreay will face the consequences.
When Bowens and Shibata try to enter the ring, the Death Riders appear from the stands. Outnumbered, The Opps are forced to retreat. Ospreay exchanges looks with Moxley, who nods in approval.
Renee Paquette is backstage alongside Don Callis and Konosuke Takeshita ahead of the main event. Callis confidently says that Takeshita is heading into Double or Nothing as the World Champion. The interview is interrupted by MJF, who praises Takeshita’s talent while also reminding everyone that he defeated him three years ago. MJF says there’s no bigger money match than a rematch between the two, ending the exchange with a handshake.
Takeshita replies in Japanese before walking away. Once he’s gone, Callis thanks MJF for the support, but MJF immediately admits he was lying the entire time and confesses he’s actually panicking over the possibility of becoming a “bald phenomenon.” After awkwardly apologizing for the comment, MJF hands over his Dynamite Diamond Ring, telling Callis to use it tonight if things get desperate.
Moments later, Andrade El Idolo walks into the scene proudly showing off his hair, which instantly causes MJF to panic and run off. Andrade then stares down Callis and makes it clear that the World Championship will soon belong to him.
Announces the brackets for the Owen Hart Women's Tournament:
Persephone vs. Hazuki
Willow Nightingale (TBS Champion) vs. Alex Windsor (at Double or Nothing)
Mina Shirakawa vs. Athena (ROH Champion)
Skye Blue vs. Sareee
Renee Paquette catches up backstage with The Conglomeration. Orange Cassidy points out that the group now has an opportunity to challenge for the tag team titles, leading Kyle O'Reilly to suggest that Roderick Strong should team with Cassidy for the match. O'Reilly then shifts focus to his own unfinished business, saying he still hasn’t forgotten the man responsible for sidelining him. He sends a direct challenge to Jon Moxley, demanding to know when they’ll finally clash for the Continental Championship.
Meanwhile, Willow Nightingale pulls the TBS Championship out of her backpack and confidently says she’s ready to win the Owen Hart Tournament for a second time while carrying all the gold. Cassidy then jokes that it’s been a while since they’ve done a “Word of the Day” segment, which brings out Mark Briscoe. Briscoe excitedly announces that today’s word is “Reunification,” celebrating the fact that he’s back together with the group once again.
He quickly turns serious and calls out Tommaso Ciampa, demanding a fight next Wednesday near his hometown in Maryland. Briscoe eventually storms off yelling, with the rest of the group following behind, while Cassidy calmly looks at Paquette and remarks, “That was a lot of yelling.”
Triangle of Madness (Thekla, Julia Hart, and Skye Blue) vs. Hikaru Shida and The Brawling Birds (Jamie Hayter and Alex Windsor)
The heels try to attack as the bell rings, but are quickly repelled out of the ring. The six wrestlers engage in a total brawl; Blue and Hayter fight over the barricade while The Birds execute a double gorilla press on Blue, slamming her face against the ring edge. Thekla dives with a huge cross body onto Hayter and Windsor. The Triangle of Madness delivers a series of chops against the commentary table before crashing The Birds and Shida against the ring apron. Back in the ring, Hayter is isolated until Thekla and Hart apply simultaneous Tarantulas on the ropes on The Birds, while Blue lands some flying kicks.
Hayter manages to counterattack and looks for the tag from Shida, who hesitates for a moment before accepting to enter. Shida hits a suplex on Hart in the corner where Thekla was lying; then she lands a punch on Thekla, but receives a kick to the ribs. In commentary, it is reported that Kris Statlander did not receive medical clearance for tonight due to a minor injury, but she will be ready for the PPV. Thekla strikes her spider pose and takes down Shida with a Spear, but The Birds enter to break the count.
Windsor takes the tag and punishes Thekla with a combined Big Boot and leg sweep with her partner. They prepare for the Two Birds One Stone, but Blue pulls Hayter out of the ring and slams her into the steel steps. Shida hits a knee strike, receives a kick from Blue, who in turn falls victim to a Hayt-breaker. Hart enters with a lungblower before being hit by a spinebuster from Windsor. Blue comes in with a blind tag, misses the Code Blue, and receives a headbutt from Windsor. The Birds catch Blue in the middle for their final move, but Thekla appears and hits Jamie Hayter with the women's championship, causing the disqualification.
Winners by disqualification: Hikaru Shida and The Brawling Birds (Jamie Hayter and Alex Windsor)
Skye Blue locks in a Dragon Sleeper on Alex Windsor while Thekla slowly walks away from the chaos. Outside the ring, Julia Hart sprays her signature mist at an official as Hikaru Shida appears holding her kendo stick, smirking before walking off and leaving the Triangle of Madness to continue assaulting The Birds. Moments later, Willow Nightingale, Thunder Rosa and Mina Shirakawa charge down the ramp, passing by Shida on their way to the ring to make the save, forcing the Triangle of Madness to retreat.
AEW World Championship
Darby Allin vs. Konosuke Takeshita
The bell rings and Allin lands a quick kick to the outside, but when attempting a suicide dive, he is caught by Takeshita, who slams him into the ring post, then sends Darby to the other side of the ring before the action returns to the ring for a failed pin. Allin tries to fight back, but Takeshita stops him cold with a right hand and throws him from corner to corner. Allin bites to free himself in the heights and looks for a punishment, but bounces off the Japanese's power.
A huge back body drop sends Allin back outside as Callis shows off MJF's diamond ring. Takeshita lands repeated knee strikes on a bleeding Allin; the Japanese sets up the steel steps for a Power Drive Knee, but Allin dodges and Takeshita crashes into the steel. Allin takes advantage to launch himself with a shotgun dropkick from the steps and a wild tope where he ends up hitting the commentary table himself.
The battle moves to the ring apron. Allin goes for a Coffin Splash, but Takeshita catches him and hits a Blue Thunder Bomb from the apron to the floor. Back in the ring, Takeshita lands a massive clothesline and a powerbomb, Allin tries a sunset flip and a guillotine, but Takeshita escapes to hit a Bastard Driver and a German suplex. After a Helluva Kick, Takeshita takes Allin to the third rope for a violent Avalanche German Superplex that only reaches two, the Power Drive Knee hits hard, but Allin miraculously survives.
The Clone appears to distract the referee, allowing Callis to hand Takeshita MJF's diamond ring. The Japanese hesitates and finally throws the ring away, unleashing Callis' fury. The delay allows Allin a cradle that almost ends the match. Takeshita looks for a Blue Thunder Bomb from the ropes, but Allin reverses it into an Avalanche Code Red followed by the Last Supper for another failed pin. Darby climbs the corner and hits a massive Coffin Drop to the outside.
Back in, Takeshita tries a brainbuster on the steel steps, but Allin escapes and hits a Scorpion Death Drop against the metal before finishing with another Coffin Drop to the floor. Takeshita resists in the ring, greets Darby with knees in a new flight attempt, and looks for a powerbomb, but Allin catches him in a Scorpion Death Lock. Takeshita reaches the rope, but remains vulnerable to multiple consecutive Coffin Drops with which Allin secures the victory.
Winner and still AEW World Champion: Darby Allin
After the match, Allin takes the microphone and demands that MJF come out to sign the contract. The ring crew quickly sets up a table and chairs as MJF appears walking slowly. Allin signs the contract with a smile, while MJF examines the document before stepping back. MJF sits down and tells Allin that he seems angry, adding that he hopes he enjoyed holding "HIS" world title. He mentions feeling a bit sorry for Allin, as he assures that he will never have that belt again.
