Athena will go down in history as one of the great figures of Ring of Honor of all time. "The Fallen Goddess" continues to expand her historic reign as the company's World Champion, which now totals an impressive 1,252 days. This makes her reign the longest in ROH history, including all titles in the company, both male and female. However, Athena is not satisfied yet.

She is aiming much higher, specifically at the longest reign in the history of this sport. We are talking, of course, about Bruno Sammartino's reign as WWWF Heavyweight Champion, which lasted 2,803 days and 707 title defenses. This is how Athena explained it in a recent interview with Sean Ross Sapp from Fightful.

"Hey, buddy, when we get to Supercard of Honor this week and I surpass Roman Reigns' epic final stage as champion, I just want you to know that I'm going to be incredibly petty. I want everyone to know that we are going to have the pettiest celebration in history. We'll have kittens, green apple Skittles, whiskey, tequila, whatever you can think of. You're invited, Sean, of course. But we're going to throw a huge party, a real feast. We're going to have a barbecue. It's going to be amazing. But as I said before, my goal is Bruno Sammartino. Seven years, darling, seven years. But you know what? When you're champion forever, what are years? What are years?" she said.

"Many people may think that I might be getting ahead of myself. But at the end of the day, I've been champion for more than... what was it? 1250 days or something like that? And I don't see this ending anytime soon. Heck, all these girls who will be in this match think they've learned something by facing Athena, but I am constantly changing, constantly evolving. That's how I've always been, and there's no one who will work harder than me. As I've said before and will say again: no man can match my reign, no woman can live up to my legacy. I am the Ring of Honor Women's World Champion forever. It's time for you all to surpass it."

Athena will defend the ROH Women's World Championship against Maya World, Trish Adora, Yuka Sakazaki, Billie Starkz, and Zayda Steel in a Survival of the Fittest at Supercard of Honor, an event taking place tonight in Salisbury, Maryland. If the champion retains the gold, she will be just 64 days away from equaling Roman Reigns' record as Universal Champion, one of the longest in modern history, which totaled 1,312 days.
