AMC and TNA+ aired last night episode number 1140 of TNA Thursday Night iMPACT!, recorded from the Sacramento Memorial Auditorium in Sacramento, California. The show, the twentieth of the AMC era, featured several matches and segments of interest, highlighting the long-awaited conclusion of the rivalry between Mike Santana and Steve Maclin with the TNA World Championship on the line.
- The System (Eddie Edwards, Cedric Alexander, Bear Bronson, Brian Myers, and Alisha Edwards) were in charge of opening the show. "What you see is the most dominant faction in TNA history!" exclaimed Eddie to start their promo. Edwards recalled Alexander's victory from last week, which he described as a statement, a clear message to everyone: "No one can defeat The System." Eddie pointed out they were just one step away from achieving their goal: holding all the gold in TNA. With that said, he addressed Mike Santana advising him to watch his back carefully. Myers took the floor to ensure that his partner would become the new TNA World Champion. In fact, he is a future Hall of Famer. Brian concluded by affirming that The System is a faction for winners.
Bear was the next to address the fans, promising that anyone who opposes them will be annihilated, regardless of whether the talents they face have the support of the audience, because they will all have the same fate: being devoured alive by The System.
Alexander, on his part, repeated over and over that Leon Slater was just one day away from fulfilling his dream. Just one day away from becoming a "record-breaker." However, his celebration was interrupted by Fabian Aichner. That's why he demanded the presence of the Italian, so he could explain face to face why he decided to ruin his big moment.
Fabian didn't take long to appear on the scene. "Buona sera System," he said. Aicher made it clear that his appearance last week had nothing to do with The System, but with himself. "I'm here to seek redemption and recognition", he explained before ensuring he is a future TNA champion. And, truth be told, he found Cedric's title very nice. "I'm in TNA to claim my spot!", he exclaimed. Bronson and Myers didn't hesitate to leave the ring to attack Aichner, but he quickly got rid of them. Fabian headed towards the ring to expel Edwards from it. Cedric took advantage to surprise Fabian, trying to apply a Lumbercheck. However, the Italian blocked it to respond with a strong submission hold. Bronson, Edwards, and Myers quickly came to the rescue of their partner, leaving a triumphant Aichner in the ring.
- Daria Rae met with Steve Maclin before his match tonight. Rae asked Maclin to end Mike Santana, "the heart of TNA," and to put the World Championship on the shoulders of someone who can bear that weight.
- Indi Hartwell defeated Elayna Black by disqualification due to an intervention by Arianna Grace. She attacked Hartwell before throwing her out of the ring. After that, she reminded the fans of the injustice that had been done to her: she lost the Knockouts World Championship to Léi Yǐng Lee, a woman who didn't deserve the opportunity that Santino Marella had given her. These words led the Director of Authority to come out. Marella reproached his daughter's attitude, blaming Channing "Stacks" Lorenzo for changing her. "Stacks" confronted Santino, even putting his hands on the Director of Authority, which led him to pull out his "Cobra" from his pocket. At that moment, Daria Rae burst onto the scene to criticize Marella for his attitude. A Director of Authority looking for a fight once again with a talent? Daria also mocked Santino's past as a judoka, pointing out that she was an MMA fighter. With that said, she recommended him to leave the ring and behave properly. Marella had no choice but to obey. Meanwhile, "Stacks" and Grace enjoyed their small victory.
- The Personal Concierge, Mr. Elegance, Heather, and M By Elegance were chatting in the dressing room when the lights suddenly went out. When everything returned to normal, the faction found a message written on the mirror: "See you soon", signed by Rosemary, Allie, and Mara Sadé.
- "Broken" Matt Hardy (with Jeff Hardy) defeated Vincent (with Dutch) after applying a Twist of Fate. Jeff and Dutch remained handcuffed to the ropes throughout the match. In the final moments of the match, the referee was knocked out. Vincent took advantage of the situation to snatch the handcuff key to free his partner. That's when the venue lights went out. When the lighting returned, Willow appeared behind Vincent to attack him. Willow disappeared during another blackout, leaving The Righteous member at the mercy of Matt.
- AJ Francis approached Elijah backstage as he practiced with his guitar. Francis declared himself a fan of Elijah's work, which is why he proposed a collaboration. However, Elijah wasn't interested in teaming up. Francis assured him that he also had no intention of returning to the tag team division. His proposal involved a musical collaboration. His business is all about "Money, Money," and together they could do great things. Elijah respected Francis and his way of doing business, but he remained uninterested. "I'm The Drifter, and a drifter walks alone", he affirmed before leaving. "You'll regret it," said Francis.
- Santino Marella announced the return of the Champions Challenge, revealing that next week there will be two matches, one featuring the male division, and the other the Knockouts. Daria Rae "congratulated" Marella on his announcement before informing him that next week she will face Channing "Stacks" Lorenzo in a one-on-one match. Santino left the scene, at which point The System appeared in full force. Eddie Edwards requested a match against Fabian Aicher, an idea that was well received by the TNA Chief Operating Officer.
- Mustafa Ali (with Order 4) defeated Chazz "Starboy" Hall to retain the TNA International Championship.
- Santino Marella approached Keith Jardine backstage to welcome him and declare himself a big fan of his work. "My house is your house. You are my guest," said the Director of Authority. Mara Sadé appeared on the scene to apologize to the former MMA fighter for what happened last week with The Elegance Brand. Sadé pointed out that next week she will compete in the Knockouts Champions Challenge, and she hoped Mr. Elegance would be in the corner of her teammates. That's why she invited Jardine to be in the corner of her team. This way, he can keep Mr. Elegance in check. They shook hands to end this segment.
- Eric Young addressed Steve Maclin backstage. Young recalled how Maclin did everything to return to TNA after being fired and receiving a title shot. And all for Mike Santana to send him straight to the hospital. But there he was once again with a new opportunity. Eric just wanted to show him the truth. "The truth is I'm your only friend here," he said. Young pointed out that Maclin's destiny was in his own hands. Life is about making choices, and that's exactly what awaited Steve that night. "So what will it be then? Do you beat Mike and face me? Or does Mike beat you and you might disappear again? Maybe I'll make you disappear again. Think about it, Steve. Choices have consequences. That's what I've been saying all along. And tonight you have the most important decision of your life," said Young before leaving.
- Xia Brookside defeated Jada Stone after applying The Dark Side.
- Mike Santana and Steve Maclin faced off backstage before their match. Several security members intervened to prevent a fight.
- Arianna Grace and Channing "Stacks" Lorenzo carried out a brief backstage promo directed at Santino Marella. Grace pointed out that next week will be historic, as her father will finally face a real man. Lorenzo, on his part, insisted that he is not the villain in this story, but Santino. Channing sent a final message to his father-in-law, making it clear that his daughter no longer loved him, and that she only had eyes for him. "See you next week, dad," said Channing to end this segment.
- Mike Santana defeated Steve Maclin to retain the TNA World Championship in the main event of the night. Maclin survived a fall through a table at ringside and a frog splash only to finally fall to a flying clothesline, followed by a definitive Spin the Block.
