Mercedes Moné carried out her long-awaited return to the television programming of All Elite Wrestling in the latest episode of AEW Dynamite, where she was revealed as the replacement for Willow Nightingale in the Owen Hart Foundation tournament. In this way, "The CEO" put an end to six months of absence from the company.
Throughout this time, fans have not stopped asking her when she would return to television programming. However, the former TBS champion limited herself to following her roadmap, focused on her personal projects and the loss of most of the titles in the independent scene that she had accumulated the previous year. Now, once back, Mercedes wanted to address this issue... in her own way.
"I'm back and I feel better than ever. Almost 6 months away. I had never had such a long break that was not due to an injury and, after 16 years, it was the first time I could truly relax and not worry about anything. But one thing I realized during that time? I missed wrestling a lot. Especially AEW," she wrote in the most recent edition of her newsletter Mone Mag.
"While I was away, I saw all the rumors. 'Oh, she's pregnant'. 'Oh, contractual problems'. 'Oh, she's leaving'. 'Oh, this'. 'Oh, that'. Oh... NOTHING. Can't I enjoy my vacation in peace? Can't a woman have her period and feel bloated? Can't I enjoy my free time without speculations or rumors?"
"Another thing I learned is that there is no one more impatient than wrestling fans. They are the kind of people who look for the end of a movie before it finishes. They love not being surprised. They love not being present and fully enjoying the moment because they are too caught up in fantasy. But now the wait is over," she concluded.
After defeating Alex Windsor in the quarterfinals of the Owen Hart Foundation tournament, Moné is preparing for her semifinal opponent, STARDOM star Hazuki, with whom she had an altercation in the last episode of AEW Collision. The match is scheduled for next week's episode of AEW Dynamite.
