Drew McIntyre seems to have found his place in Hollywood. The Scotsman is about to participate in his third film in just two years. According to Deadline, McIntyre will be part of The Last Druid, a historical action drama starring Russell Crowe. The filming will take place this summer in Spain.
"An emperor discovers an isolated druid fortress, forcing a peaceful elderly Celtic leader to take up arms to protect his family and his people from annihilation," reads the official synopsis of the film.
According to Deadline, Crowe will play the elderly Celtic leader. McIntyre's role in the film has not been revealed yet. However, the fact that filming will take place this summer could completely rule out his participation in SummerSlam, contrary to recent rumors. In fact, Mike Johnson of PWInsider has been able to confirm that WWE currently has no creative plans for McIntyre.
"The Scottish Psychopath" lost to Jacob Fatu in an Unsanctioned Match on the first day of WrestleMania 42. That was his last televised appearance on WWE programming. The company granted the wrestler some time off to participate in the filming of the reboot of Highlander, shot in his homeland of Scotland. In it, McIntyre plays the brother of the lead actor, Henry Cavill. Previously, he had been part of the action comedy The Killer's Game, starring Dave Bautista.
It is worth noting that, once the filming of Highlander was completed, McIntyre was considering several projects in Hollywood, indicating his interest in his career as a professional actor. A career he will continue to balance with his role as a WWE superstar, a company with which he renewed in April 2024.
