The CW and Netflix will air a new episode of WWE NXT tonight, with Vic Joseph and Wade Barrett at the commentary table, live from the Performance Center in Orlando, Florida. This will be the last show of the brand before The Great American Bash and will feature a double contract signing for the top championships.
On the other hand, Izzi Dame and Arianna Grace will face off in the final of the WWE Speed tournament for an opportunity at the women's division championship. Additionally, Aaron Rourke will defend the WWE Evolve Championship against Tristan Angels. As always, we invite you to comment on the article to give your opinion on what happened in the show.
WWE NXT starts on Netflix!
The show begins with Tony D'Angelo talking with Robert Stone backstage. D'Angelo wants to know if Naraku has arrived at the venue and signed the contract for their match at The Great American Bash. Stone informs him that Naraku hasn't signed it yet, but the Japanese will be present for the double contract signing they have planned. That's why he asks Tony to stay calm. They will hold the first PLE of NXT on The CW on Sunday, and everything must go well. Tony insists he wants that contract signed before the night ends. Aaron Rourke passes by them on his way to the ring. D'Angelo congratulates him on his work and wishes him luck in his title defense tonight. "Thanks. From champion to champion, same to you," says Aaron before leaving. Stone insists to Tony that he must behave today. The NXT Champion leaves to end the first segment of the night.
WWE Evolve Championship Match
Aaron Rourke (c) vs. Tristan Angels
Angels places his "Mr. NXT" armband in one of the corners before getting ready for the match. Both men struggle, with Tristan cornering Aaron. The referee orders the Brit to back off. Rourke continues to hit his rival, finishing him off with a Missile Dropkick. 1..2..NO.
Angels recovers to hit Aaron in the back of the head. Suddenly, the lights in the venue turn red as we hear the shrill laughter of Shiloh Hill. Tristan gets distracted, allowing Rourke to escape the pressure from the Brit. Rourke throws Angels out of the ring with a clothesline. Aaron stands on the apron, ready for his next attack, but his opponent makes him fall. The action returns to the ring, where the challenger controls the match. Tristan dodges an enzuigiri to hit his opponent's face against the canvas.
Angels hits Aaron against the ropes before taking him down with a clothesline. Tristan throws Rourke against one of the corners. Angels continues to hit the champion while he is lying on the mat. After a few seconds, Tristan manages to come out into the light. Angels returns to the ring, where the champion greets him with a spinning big boot. Aaron seeks height to finish off Angels with his Over the Rainbow. 1..2..3.
Winner and STILL WWE Evolve Champion: Aaron Rourke
An impatient Tony D'Angelo (accompanied by Robert Stone) leaves the venue to meet Naraku. The NXT Champion asks the Japanese if he has signed the contract. "Tony-san, thank you for your patience," says Naraku. Stone tries to take the document, but Naraku points out that he will only give it to D'Angelo. "And new...", says the Japanese. "And a piece of sh*t," Tony replies as he takes the contract. Tony opens the folder to make sure his rival has signed the contract, at which point a flash blinds him. Stone takes off his jacket to cover Tony's face. Naraku laughs as the segment comes to an end.
An ambulance arrives at the venue's parking lot to take Tony D'Angelo, whose face is wrapped in a towel. Robert Stone assures the NXT Champion that he will take care of the contract signing. The vehicle heads to the hospital as the segment ends.
Saquon Shugars awaits in the ring for the arrival of Dion Lennox. He joins his former partner, whom he calls "coward." Shugars makes it clear that he is not. He is a smart man. That's why he ended up taking out the rest of DarkState one by one. Now he wants to finish off the head of the snake in a one-on-one at The Great American Bash. Having said that, Shugars confesses that he has thought a lot about the betrayal he suffered at the hands of those he once called teammates. Did he do something wrong? Did he fail them? No. It was Lennox who started to believe he was the leader of the faction when it didn't need one. "All the time, what NXT needed for Saquon Shugars was to put him in the positions you were assigned", he says. And yes, he may be a wrestler from the independent scene, but he knows that Dion is just another phony who wants to take his place.
Lennox, on the other hand, recalls that they never thought of Shugars as a member of DarkState. They simply needed him. And when he fulfilled his purpose, they simply discarded him. Saquon assures that DarkState wouldn't exist without him. He was the glue that held the faction together. None of its members could do anything without his help. And at The Great American Bash, he will show the world that he is the "next" and Dion the "never".
Lennox ensures that no one knows the real Saquon Shugars, only the version that DarkState wanted to show of him. Because the real Shugars is a man with doubts, a distraction for the faction. Getting rid of him was the best thing for DarkState. Dion knows that Saquon hasn't changed. He remains the same man, plus his own enemy. When they face each other at The Great American Bash, there will come a moment when he doubts. And when he does, Lennox himself will sign his death sentence. Dion throws the mic to the mat before leaving the ring. And so we reach the end of this segment.
Matt Mathews talks with Hank Walker and Tank Ledger backstage. The comedian doesn't understand how Tank and Hank managed to get him back to NXT and have him wear one of their shirts. Walker assures him that he will get used to it. And once they win tonight, they can get ready for the party that will take place at The Great American Bash. Ledger, on the other hand, reminds him that their opponents will have three members at ringside, while they only have one Matt Mathews. The three men head to the ring, with the comedian not very convinced of what is about to happen. Meanwhile, in the background, we see Robert Stone arguing with The Vanity Project.
Myles Borne and Tavion Heights star in a promotional video before their title match at The Great American Bash. Borne recalls his time in No Quarter Catch Crew, where he started to feel too comfortable. So much so that he realized he was just another member of a faction. Directionless and purposeless. "I didn't want that. I knew what I was capable of, and I didn't want to wait," he says. Borne bet on himself and managed to win the North American Championship. However, he begins to think that Tavion, the man he considers a brother, didn't want to see him succeed. Heights, on the other hand, points out that he has never been afraid to walk alone. However, in NQCC, he found a brother. One that has ended up forgetting this friendship. And all because he succeeded. Borne believes that his success is solely due to himself, but it's not. Both talked about reaching the top together, but once Myles achieved gold, everyone left Tavion behind. Heights makes it clear that he won't be forgotten, and at The Great American Bash, he will think selfishly to win the North American Championship. Myles finishes the video promising Heights that he will leave the event with the gold still around his waist.
We move backstage, where Wren Sinclair and Tavion Heights have watched the previous promotional video. The WWE Speed Champion believes that Heights should give Myles Borne space so their friendship isn't affected. "It's easy for you to say, because you have a title. Myles has a title. Charlie has BirthRight. What do I have? Nothing," says Tavion before leaving. Kendal Grey approaches Wren to ask her about the final of the WWE Speed tournament that will take place tonight. Sinclair confesses that she doesn't care who wins tonight because the truly important news is that she has been medically cleared to compete. Grey points out that both should celebrate the title victories they will achieve at The Great American Bash... "with a two-tier cake!" they exclaim in unison. Kendal leaves for her contract signing. Sinclair, on the other hand, will think about the flavors that cake will have.
Tag Team Match
Hank Walker and Tank Ledger (with Matt Mathews) vs. BirthRight (Uriah Connors and Channing "Stacks" Lorenzo) (with Arianna Grace and Lexis King)
Tank and Connors start the match. Both men exchange holds, locks, and counters. Ledger takes down his opponent with several armdrags before tagging in Hank. Uriah surprises Walker with several uppercuts before tagging in Channing. He quickly falls into Hank's clutches. Lorenzo hits Walker's throat to free himself. After that, he hits Tank in his corner to taunt him.
Walker quickly recovers. Hank and Tank team up against their opponents. The former tag team champions throw Channing against the ropes. Tank throws Lorenzo out of the ring before applying an Electric Chair to Uriah. Meanwhile, the threatening BirthRight approach Matthews. Tank and Hank launch themselves at their opponents with parallel suicide dives to rescue the comedian.
Tank and Hank continue to dominate the match in the ring. Walker crushes Uriah with a splash. 1..2..NO. Walker kicks Channing in the apron area. Connors tries to attack Hank, but he prevents it. Lorenzo and Connors team up perfectly against Hank. Channing traps Walker in a headlock on the mat. Lorenzo and Connors perform a combo suplex + powerbomb on Hank. 1..2..NO. Uriah surprises Hank with a springboard cutter before Channing finishes him off with a diving elbow drop. 1..2..NO. Tank interrupts the count. The four men end up lying on the mat. "This is amazing!" chant the fans. The action continues, with the four men exchanging attacks until they end up lying on the mat once again.
Meanwhile, ringside, Lexis immobilizes Matthews. Charlie is about to punch him, but the comedian frees himself, causing the former to hit his partner, who falls to the ground. Matthews trips Dempsey, who lands on King's groin. Hank and Walker take advantage of their opponents' distraction to crush them in the center of the ring. The former tag team champions apply their combined finisher on Lorenzo. 1..2..3.
Winners: Hank Walker and Tank Ledger
Sarah Schreiber interviews Shiloh Hill backstage. Schreiber asks Hill if, after costing Tristan Angels the match, they are now at peace. Shiloh replies that they are not. Getting ready for the "Mr. NXT Pageant" took a lot of effort. In fact, he had never been so nervous before a competition. But opening up from a personal point of view meant letting his guard down. And that's when Tristan attacked him. So no, he is not at peace with the Brit. Hill addresses the camera to send a message to Tristan. Shiloh hopes he enjoyed everything related to the "Mr. NXT Pageant" because now he is medically cleared, and his goal is to inflict a lot of pain on him. So much so that it will be addictive. Hill promises him that at The Great American Bash, he will show him why no one should underestimate him. Hill laughs hysterically before leaving.
We see Tony D'Angelo being attended to in the Emergency Room.
Robert Stone presents the contract signing for the NXT Women's Championship match that will take place at The Great American Bash. Lola Vice and Kendal Grey are seated facing each other. Kendal wants to make it clear to Lola that what happened last week was an accident. Vice, on the other hand, believes that Grey just wanted to get her revenge. Lola recalls that she left mixed martial arts to start a new career in NXT from scratch. All with the sole goal of winning this championship. Grey knows her story well because she did the same. And now they are the two biggest "athletes crossover" on the roster. Lola remembers Shayna Baszler, the first "athleta crossover" to hold the gold. Vice acknowledges that Baszler was a difficult woman to figure out, unlike Kendal, whom she has figured out. And that's because Grey always collapses under pressure. For that reason, Lola is convinced that she will leave the event with the title still around her waist. Grey, on the other hand, makes it clear that she NEEDS to win on Sunday. It's the only way she can reach the top of the NXT women's division. And yes, Lola may be number one right now, but that will change after The Great American Bash. Kendal signs the contract before passing it to Lola. She has no doubt that Grey will eventually lead this women's division. However, that won't happen while she is the champion. "At The Great American Bash, I will answer all the questions. I will beat you. I will retain. And you will learn what it means to be humble and bow your head in the same way I had to do so many times. At some point, Kendal Grey will propel this women's division, but it will be when Lola Vice is finished. And I'm not finished yet. I'll see you at Bash," says Vice before signing the contract. Lola hands it to Stone, who thanks both for their time. And so we reach the end of this segment.

Zaria appears in a video promo addressing Tatum Paxley. The Australian recalls that exactly one year ago they were both standing in the shadows of two women competing for the North American Championship—the same title she now holds. Fortunately, they both managed to break free and stand on their own. That allowed them to become champions. Unfortunately for Tatum, Zaria’s reign began by ending hers. As expected, Paxley refused to move on. Like everyone else, Tatum does not want Zaria to enjoy her success. Last week, she cost her the first match of her title reign. Zaria describes Paxley as a pain addict, and that is exactly what she plans to give her. The Australian grants Tatum a championship rematch at The Great American Bash. "I’ll beat you again, and then you can enjoy that pain forever," Zaria says to close out her promo.
An angry Robert Stone (holding the NXT Championship) confronts Naraku over what happened earlier tonight. The NXT General Manager threatens to suspend the Japanese star. "No, no. Mr. Stone. You can’t do that," says Naraku. Stone asks why. "Because then you won’t have a championship match at The Great American Bash," replies Naraku while pointing at the title belt. Naraku leaves the area laughing. Keanu Carver then appears. Stone scolds him for what happened moments ago. Carver points out that he only did what he said he would do. He promises to keep destroying everyone until he gets what he wants: a title opportunity. "EK wasn’t the first, and you can be sure he won’t be the last," says Carver before walking away.

Fed up with the situation, Stone orders everyone to leave his office.

"No. I’m not okay," Jaida replies before walking away. Once alone, Price tells Bronco that he saw him in AAA last weekend and wants to know if everything is alright. "Everything’s good, brother. The Japanese star enters the ring and immediately gets in Stone’s face. "If you don’t have anyone to face me, I’ll take the championship," Naraku says.
Mason Rook appears!
"Naraku! Naraku! This is NXT. We don’t hand out championships here. If Tony can’t fight you for it, then guess what? I will," says Rook as he enters the ring. "Everyone knows the match at Bash should have been mine. So let’s do this one more time, but this time let’s put gold on the line."
The Vanity Project interrupts the segment!
"Hold it right there, pork chop! Mason, you’ve only been in NXT for a short time, and you already have the nerve to ask for another title shot?" asks Jackson Drake. He turns to Stone and makes it clear that their earlier conversation is not over because he will not allow the General Manager to leave the brand’s best faction off The Great American Bash. Drake, Ricky Smokes, and Brad Baylor climb onto the apron. "Look at me. You need someone to fight for that championship in the main event, and you’re looking at a main-event-caliber talent," he says.
