Tony Khan Takes WWE's New Schedule Move as a Compliment

Tony Khan reacted calmly upon learning that WWE has scheduled NXT Heatwave and an AAA event for the same August 30th date on which AEW will be hosting All In at Wembley Stadium. Far from launching a direct criticism, Khan said he interprets it as a compliment and joked about the old school Jim Crockett Promotions.

During the press conference following Forbidden Door, Khan made it clear that he had seen the announcement, but that he does not intend to be distracted by what the competition does. His priority, he pointed out, is to prepare a great show for AEW All In: London.

It's a double compliment to be the Crockett guy. Twice as kind as they were to Jimmy. It's great. I'll take it that way. I think we're going to have a fantastic AEW All In. I can't speak to what other promotions are doing, but I did see that announcement, and I saw it while our own show was taking place tonight.

He also noted that, while he acknowledges the competitive context between promotions, he's not going to make every move by the rival the center of the conversation. Instead, he preferred to insist that AEW should focus on delivering a solid and memorable event at Wembley.

Khan's stance was simple: he acknowledged the coincidence of dates, but decided not to get too involved in the programming war. For him, the right response is to move forward and show with the AEW show why that date matters so much.
