Rhea Ripley returned from the latest European tour of WWE with a knee injury. The wrestler herself confirmed the news in her latest appearance on SmackDown, although she did not offer more details about the severity of the injury or an approximate date for her return to action. This injury led the company to cancel her appearance at Night of Champions, where she was expected to defend the WWE Women's Championship.

According to a recent report from Fightful Select, the company was considering two possibilities for the Saudi Arabia PLE. "Jacy Jayne or Alexa Bliss could have been Rhea Ripley's opponent at Night of Champions if Rhea had not been injured", the media wrote.

Rhea's injury caused several creative changes both in the blue brand show and in the Night of Champions card, with the inclusion of Tiffany Stratton on the official event poster instead of "Mami". Stratton defended the United States Championship against Jade Cargill, who has boasted of being directly responsible for the Australian's injury.

At the moment, it is unknown when Ripley will return to action. However, the fact that her title has not been vacated could be indicative that the Australian will not be out for much longer. Currently, Rhea is still locally advertised for the SmackDown show on July 10, although this lineup is always subject to change.
