Sheamus, one of the most veteran wrestlers on the WWE roster, is about to leave the company after almost two decades of service. According to the specialized media Fightful, the former world champion has rejected a renewal proposal from the company, so he will leave once his current contract expires.

"According to sources, WWE contacted Sheamus to offer him a restructured contract while he was recovering from an injury. However, the wrestler immediately rejected the offer. It was also informed that his contract with WWE was set to expire a few months after that approach, so it didn't make sense to proceed with an early release that would trigger the 90-day non-compete clause," the media wrote.

At the moment, the exact date of his contract expiration is not known, although sources consulted by Fightful indicate that his departure will happen very soon. It should be reiterated that this is not a dismissal, but a non-renewal decided by the wrestler himself, as recently happened with Xavier Woods and Kofi Kingston.

Sheamus signed with WWE in 2007 after three years in the independent scene. The Irishman made his official debut in 2009, the year he surprised the world by winning the WWE Championship from the biggest superstar of the moment, John Cena. Throughout his fifteen years as an active talent in the company, Sheamus has shown great skill in a variety of gimmicks, both as heels and faces, earning the love and respect of the fans.

Since his debut, Sheamus has won 12 championships (including 4 world titles). However, there is one in particular that has eluded him, the Intercontinental Championship. Aware of this, "The Celtic Warrior" set his sights on adding this title to his record, which would have made him the first Irish Grand Slam Champion in WWE history. However, it seems that won't be possible anymore... at least for now.
