The Great Khali has confirmed that he is already retired from competition in the ring, although he is still open to making occasional appearances if WWE wants to have him. During a chat with Chris Van Vliet on the Insight Podcast, the former world champion made it clear that he does not plan to return full-time.
Khali was straightforward about his physical condition and the limitations imposed by his knees. The former wrestler pointed out that he could not sustain a full-time schedule and would only consider a brief appearance, of one or two days, in cases like the Royal Rumble or some special WWE event.
He also explained that he has pending knee replacement surgeries, but his schedule has been delaying those procedures. He explained that the pain appears especially when climbing stairs or walking for long periods, although he feels fine in other activities.
Yes, I have retired. You never know, but I don't want to come back. Maybe if WWE asks me: 'Would you come back someday?' then I could go. But only for one or two days, not full-time. Never. It's because of my knee, which gives me trouble, so I can't work full-time.
Khali also spoke about the upcoming knee replacement surgeries he will undergo. He explained that his tight schedule has delayed the interventions, as well as the intensity of the pain and the impact on his daily activities.
The Great Khali was one of the most striking figures in WWE between 2006 and 2014 thanks to his enormous physical presence. During that period, he won his only World Heavyweight Championship in 2007 and later was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2021.
