CM Punk defeated Sami Zayn in this week's episode of WWE RAW on Netflix and, according to two reports published online, that outcome would have been part of the plan for quite some time. The victory marked a new turn in the wrestler's career, who returned to the top of the company immediately upon his comeback.

In the Post-RAW program by Fightful, it was stated that WWE had clear plans beforehand that Zayn would end up losing the title to Punk. The version suggests that the company had known for some time when Punk would return and that's why the story was outlined in advance.

On the other hand, False Finish reported that the idea of seeing CM Punk as champion heading towards SummerSlam had been defined for at least a month. This report also indicates that Punk was originally supposed to face Cody Rhodes at WrestleMania 43 in Riyadh, although now WWE's priority would be to have him at SummerSlam in Minneapolis as one of the main attractions of the summer.

"According to information obtained by False Finish, CM Punk's victory in the WWE Undisputed Championship and his participation in #SummerSlam to defend it have been planned for over a month," the outlet wrote. "Initially, Punk was scheduled to face Cody Rhodes at WrestleMania 43 in Riyadh, but WWE is gearing up for Minneapolis' SummerSlam to be better than what WrestleMania 42 was."

Everything suggests that the title change on RAW was not a last-minute decision, but rather part of a broader build-up. With SummerSlam on the horizon and the event scheduled for the first time over two nights, the expectation now revolves around whether Punk's next big challenge will be Cody Rhodes.
