Weekly shows from All Elite Wrestling have always stood out for their extensive lineups full of matches. However, in recent months we have been able to appreciate a slight change in this regard, specifically in the substantial increase in title matches.
So much so that some fans have described some episodes of this year as small-scale PPVs. A description that is quite close to reality. This is how Tony Khan explained the reasons that have led him to increase the number of title matches on Dynamite and Collision shows in 2026.
"We are offering a very high level. It's fantastic to have all these championship matches. When AEW is at its best, you can tune in and see the top stars facing each other in great matches and important rivalries," he said in a recent interview with Case Lowe on Q101.
"Personally, I believe we are experiencing one of the best stages of AEW on television. Without a doubt, we are having more world championship defenses and more top-level main events than in any other natural year in our history, and we're only halfway through the year."
"Having all these great title matches on Dynamite and Collision, in addition to offering the best pay-per-view events, means that our fans have it all. They can enjoy the best possible product on television and a great wrestling show, especially those who can't afford to buy all the PPVs. Still, they can expect a very high level every week watching AEW on TV."
"There are fans who can't buy all the pay-per-view events, but still receive great matches week after week. The best thing about AEW PPVs is that they are really worth it. I always try to offer a spectacular event because I never take for granted the effort of those who spend their money on a ticket or a pay-per-view. That's why I try to offer an even higher level than the demanding standard we set week after week," he concluded.
Tonight will be the AEW Dynamite: Beach Break special, where two championships will be on the line. On one hand, Konosuke Takeshita will defend the International Title against Kyle Fletcher, while MJF will put the World Championship on the line against Kenny Omega in one of the most anticipated matches by fans.
