Kyle Fletcher added a new championship to his record after defeating Konosuke Takeshita in one of the most outstanding matches of the special episode of AEW Dynamite: Beach Break, aired last night at The BayCare Sound in Clearwater, Florida. "The ProtoStar" overcame his former partner in a very close match to add more gold to The Don Callis Family and maintain his undefeated streak in singles matches in 2026.
Both men tested their strength in the early stages of the match, taking the action to ringside. An oversight by Takeshita ended with the Japanese's right hand hitting one of the posts. Kyle didn't take long to take advantage of the situation to focus his punishment on his opponent's injured area. Takeshita escaped the pressure by applying an Exploder Suplex that expelled the Australian from the ring. After that, he launched himself at him with a tope.
A hurting Konosuke continued to strike Fletcher at ringside. A big boot sent the challenger over the audience barrier. However, back in the ring, "The ProtoStar" surprised the champion with a powerslam, only to receive a superplex in response. Both men continued exchanging attacks. A superkick from Kyle was answered with a Blue Thunder Bomb, leaving both wrestlers lying on the mat.
The action moved to the apron area, where Takeshita executed a combo Hitodenashi Driver + Wheelbarrow Suplex that got the fans out of their seats. The action returned to the ring, where Don Callis distracted the champion, allowing "The ProtoStar" to recover and strike the Japanese from behind. This led to the final minutes of the match, with both men giving their all for victory.
After surviving a Raging Fire, Kyle kicked Takeshita's injured arm to apply a Sheer Drop Brainbuster, but it wasn't enough to defeat the champion. The action moved towards one of the corners, where the Australian executed a running kick. After that, he hoisted the Japanese to the top corner to finish him off with an unstoppable Brainbustah!!!!
With this victory, Fletcher conquers his third individual championship in All Elite Wrestling, in addition to ending a negative streak. Last night was the first individual victory of "The ProtoStar" over Takeshita. They had previously faced each other twice, with "The Alpha" winning both matches.
