Kenny Omega is the new AEW World Champion. "The Best Bout Machine" defeated MJF in the main event of the special episode of AEW Dynamite: Beach Break, which aired last night at The BayCare Sound in Clearwater, Florida, to claim his second world title in the company. Omega not only faced one of the most dangerous rivals on the roster, but also a special stipulation that would have prevented him from challenging for the title again in case of defeat.

Match development

MJF quickly resorted to tricks to counter his opponent's initial momentum. After knocking Omega to the ground, "The Devil" decided to jump over the audience barrier to leave the venue. A recovered Kenny wasted no time in going after him, thus starting a brawl among the crowd. The Canadian took control of the situation, punishing his opponent as he brought him back into the ring.

Once again, MJF used tricks to regain control, first using the referee as a human shield and then biting his opponent. Kenny blocked a Heat Seeker, but couldn't avoid a cutter. Omega interrupted the subsequent three count to escape to the entrance ramp. "The Devil" quickly went after him to fight on the stage set up for the show. Omega took advantage of the presence of a watchtower (typical on beaches) to dive onto the champion with a moonsault.

Kenny continued his offense with a springboard crossbody before bringing MJF back into the ring, where he executed an Ushigoroshi. "The Devil" recovered to counter the Canadian's offense until both were knocked down simultaneously with a clothesline. MJF charged at Omega again, applying a package piledriver for a nearfall.

A pained Kenny sought refuge on the apron, at which point MJF cleared the announcer's table. "The Devil" prepared to execute a piledriver on the table, but his opponent blocked it to strike him, throwing him against the table with a big boot. As a result, the table ended up shattered. Kenny took advantage of his opponent's condition to refresh himself and clear his eyes.

Still in pain, Omega brought MJF back into the ring to continue attacking him on the apron. "The Devil" targeted his opponent's eyes directly to escape a One Winged Angel, but couldn't avoid a rolling senton. Omega climbed the audience barrier to dive with a moonsault, but found MJF's knees on his landing. "The Devil" then finished off the Canadian with a Tombstone Piledriver onto a metal chair.

MJF brought Omega back into the ring to attempt a Heat Seeker, but the Canadian blocked it. Kenny quickly responded with a V-Trigger before setting up his One Winged Angel. Once again, MJF blocked the Canadian's finisher, but couldn't avoid the impact of a german suplex. Omega continued his offense with a direct V-Trigger to the back of the head before setting up a One Winged Angel from the second rope. MJF escaped again, this time executing a stunning poisonrana. "The Devil" finished off Kenny with a Heat Seeker, but the Canadian interrupted the subsequent three count, getting the audience on their feet.

This led to the final moments of the match. MJF once again resorted to tricks, first taking the championship belt so the referee would take it away. Thus, while the official removed the belt from the ring, "The Devil" prepared to strike his rival with his Diamond Ring. However, the appearance of Will Ospreay (with whom he had previously had an altercation) thwarted his plans. The British wrestler snatched the ring, leading MJF and the referee to focus all their attention on him.

Omega seized the opportunity to pick up the championship, which he tried to use as a weapon. However, MJF knelt down to beg for mercy. The Canadian took pity on his opponent, who didn't hesitate to respond with a low blow, followed by a punch. "The Devil" covered Kenny as the referee returned his attention to the match, but the Canadian once again interrupted the three count. Both wrestlers engaged in a final exchange of attacks, which ended with Omega delivering not one, but three consecutive V-Triggers, weakening MJF enough so he couldn't block a definitive One Winged Angel.

Thus, Omega wins his second AEW World Championship, matching the records of Samoa Joe, CM Punk, and "Hangman" Adam Page. His first reign remains the second longest in the history of the championship, lasting 346 days. Kenny will defend the title against Will Ospreay at AEW: All In London. However, Omega may have to defend the title before that date, as has happened on other occasions.
