Nikki Bella has been sidelined from action since late March due to an ankle injury. That was the reason why the WWE Hall of Famer couldn't compete at WrestleMania 42, where it was rumored she would be crowned the company's Tag Team Champion alongside her sister Brie. That injury forced the wrestler to undergo surgery, with no approximate date for her return. Or at least that was the case until a few weeks ago.
According to a recent report from WrestleVotes Radio on Fightful Select, creative meetings in WWE in recent weeks have been including Nikki's name, which could indicate that her medical clearance and, therefore, her return to the ring, are closer than ever.
"As WrestleVotes Radio has learned, Nikki Bella is taking steps towards her return. A source has stated that her name has been mentioned in creative meetings over the past few weeks. It is the first time Bella has been discussed in creative meetings since WrestleMania. The resumption of creative discussions suggests that the return of 'The Fearless' may not be far off," the outlet wrote.
Nikki's injury forced the company to implement a plan B, consisting of crowning her sister Brie alongside a returning Paige at WrestleMania. Both remain the WWE Tag Team Champions, titles they will defend this coming Saturday against Fatal Influence. It is unknown if the company's current plans involve keeping the duo with the gold around their waists until Nikki's return.
