Recently, it has been a year since the acquisition of Lucha Libre AAA by WWE. A move that has revitalized the Mexican promotion with a series of decisions in all areas. One of them was the appointment of Rey Mysterio as General Manager. The legend has stated on numerous occasions that his goal is to showcase lucha libre to the entire world. A mission that seems to be going well, as he explained in a recent interview for Ringside Collectives.
"I am very excited, very positive and optimistic because I believe that everything is heading in the direction that Konnan always wanted it to take: being able to showcase lucha libre to the entire world. Thanks to the group of wrestlers who arrived at WCW in 1996, many fans were able to discover what Mexican wrestling was, because that company gave us the opportunity to show our talent. Now, with WWE's acquisition of AAA, lucha libre has definitively been projected on a global scale," he said.
"It's a very exciting moment, not only for me, who has been with AAA since its beginnings," he continued. "Being able to stay here and experience this moment, seeing how everything has come full circle, is incredible. The talents of AAA are also very excited to see the company's growth and the speed at which everything is happening. The evolution of this sport and the entire process resulting from the acquisition are progressing at an impressive pace. I am glad that the whole world is witnessing it and enjoying it with us at the same time."
Rey Mysterio has become one of the most acclaimed figures on AAA's television programming. As General Manager, the masked wrestler holds weekly press conferences to address any questions and announce the developments taking place in the promotion, such as the arrival of Damian Priest and the loan of several AAA stars to compete in WWE shows.
