In the last few years, WWE has changed the format of two of its biggest annual events, WrestleMania and SummerSlam, which are now held over two days. This strategy allows for a more extensive and distributed lineup, as well as a considerable increase in revenue, merchandise sales, and advertising.
There has been much talk about the possibility of Royal Rumble, another of the "Big Four," following the same path as WrestleMania and SummerSlam, especially with the possibility of splitting the royal battles that give the show its name over two nights. Something that could happen starting in 2028, as revealed in a recent report by Wrestlevotes on Fightful Select.
"After the recent news that Royal Rumble 2027 will be held at the State Farm Stadium in Arizona, WrestleVotes Radio has learned that WWE seriously considered expanding the event to a two-night format. In fact, some people within the company believed that would ultimately be the direction taken this year.
However, as of today, the forecast within the company is that Royal Rumble will continue to be held in a single night, possibly for the last time. According to WrestleVotes Radio, there is significant interest within WWE in turning the event, in the future, into a major multi-night happening," the outlet wrote.
Royal Rumble 2027 will be held at the State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona, as part of a multi-year collaboration agreement signed by TKO, Arizona Sports & Events Alliance, and Legends Global. At the moment, the company has not confirmed the exact date of the show, although it is expected to take place, as usual, in the month of January.
