Jim Ross has revealed that he will undergo brain surgery next Wednesday in Norman. The legendary 74-year-old commentator explained that doctors will place a shunt, although he did not specify which condition will be treated with the procedure.
Ross shared the update at the beginning of the latest episode of Grilling JR, recorded live in front of the audience. He acknowledged that no one looks forward to a brain operation, but assured that he is prepared to go through it and leave it behind.
I'm fine, my friend. I have an important week ahead. My surgery is on Wednesday in Norman. I don't want to say I'm looking forward to it, but I guess I am, because I want to get to that moment and finish all of this. I've never had brain surgery. So they are going to put what they call a shunt.
The commentator admitted that he was surprised to learn that he will not need an extended hospital stay. "They are going to put a shunt in my brain and they told me I will only be in the hospital today. That surprised me and made me happy, although I would have thought it would be longer," he noted.
Ross did not provide further details about the condition requiring the use of the shunt, so there is no additional confirmed information on the matter. For now, his goal is to overcome Wednesday's procedure and return home as soon as his doctors deem it possible.
