Tonight we will once again enjoy a new live broadcast of WWE SmackDown, which this time will be live from the Xfinity Mobile Arena in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The show, the first one after SummerSlam, will feature several attractions, including appearances by some of the big stars of the PLE, such as CM Punk, Kevin Owens, and Chelsea Green.
Additionally, Charlotte Flair will face Jade Cargill in a one-on-one match. On the other hand, Baron Corbin will defend the United States Championship against Trick Williams in a rematch from SummerSlam. WWE SmackDown starts on Netflix!
We see the arrival of some of the stars of the night at the venue: Trick Williams, Baron Corbin, Charlotte Flair, Jade Cargill (accompanied by B-Fab and Michin).
Cody Rhodes is in charge of opening the show tonight. The fans welcome him with a great ovation. "The American Nightmare" heads to the ring, where he quickly grabs a microphone to demand the presence of Randy Orton. Cody takes off his tie while challenging "The Viper" to settle their issues in the ring here and now. However, Orton does not respond to the call. Rhodes addresses the Philadelphia fans to ask them what they would like to talk about while they wait for the fourteen-time world champion. "Randy, Randy!" chants the crowd. Cody wants to talk about happy memories, like the legacy left by Dory Funk Jr. or WrestleMania 40, where he shared one of the best nights of his life with men like John Cena, Sami Zayn, Kevin Owens, and Randy Orton, unaware of what would happen next. More recent memories take him to last weekend, where he lost to CM Punk. "Now I'm going to assume that CM Punk didn't know Randy Orton was going to appear in this ring and hit me with an RKO", he says.
CM Punk bursts onto the scene!
"The Best in the World" enters the ring. "CM Punk! CM Punk!" chant the fans. The Undisputed WWE Champion has heard his name and couldn't resist coming out. So, if Cody has something to ask him, he can do it now. "I don't want to ask you, but since you're here, I will. Did you know about Randy Orton?", Cody asks. "It hurts a little, but I understand it. And if you need to hear it from my lips, no. I didn't know Randy Orton was there. I didn't know Randy Orton was going to execute an RKO. Obviously, I'm not as angry as you are, but I'm very upset," CM Punk replies before proposing to go after Randy to beat him up. Cody declines CM Punk's offer. "The American Nightmare" points out that they still have unfinished business, but tonight he needs an answer from Orton. Rhodes leaves the ring for CM Punk as he goes in search of "The Viper". "Cody. That unfinished business between us... tell me when", says CM Punk. Rhodes nods before continuing on his way. Suddenly...
Kevin Owens makes his entrance!
Kevin and Cody stand face to face. Rhodes extends his hand to hand his microphone to the Canadian. He takes it to continue his way into the ring. The fans welcome him warmly. Owens faces off with CM Punk. Soon, they begin to argue. Nick Aldis appears on the scene, ready to intervene, but Kevin assures him it won't be necessary. After all, he is facing two professionals who will behave properly. Calmer, the General Manager decides to give them space and wait at ringside.
CM Punk wonders if Owens is ready to fight. Kevin points out that he never competes in long pants. But yes, fighting is what he has wanted for the last 17 months. The Canadian acknowledges that this last year and a half has been immersed in uncertainty, not sure if he could return to doing what he loves. It's a tough situation, especially when it wasn't your decision. However, he has spent his entire career proving people wrong about him. And here he is tonight. CM Punk applauds him. "You still got it," chant the fans. Kevin makes it clear that he never lost it.
Owens points out that people around him have been asking him for the last three years to give CM Punk a second chance, as he has truly changed. "I've never bought it. Not for a second, because I know who CM Punk is. And here you are, proving me right when you have the arrogance to tell Cody to just say 'when'. 'You want another title match? Say when'. But the truth is that I am the number one contender for that title. And I'm not surprised that you ignore me because you think you're better than me. In fact, you think you're better than everyone else. And that shows that I'm right and that you're still the same arrogant sociopath I've always known you to be." CM Punk points out that proclaiming himself "The Best in the World" is what has brought him here. It's the reason millions of fans chanted his name during the ten years he was away. CM Punk knows that there are many who don't like him using that nickname, but he has proven that he deserves it every time he competes in a ring. "In fact, this title you claim to be the number one contender for means that I am the best in the world", he says. CM Punk also doesn't understand why Owens doesn't appreciate his arrogance, because the Canadian has greatly benefited from it. It was that arrogance that allowed CM Punk to break down walls and doors so that talents like Kevin could make it to WWE. "Here I was called 'thin but fat'. Did they really expect Kevin Owens with bated breath?", asks "The Best in the World" pointing to the physique of the Canadian.
Owens speaks up again to remind that it has been a decade since he was world champion. Ten years in which he has imagined what it would be like when he returned to achieve it and how he would make it even more memorable. "Now I can not only win the WWE Championship. I can humiliate you and kick your ass to win it", says Owens. CM Punk affirms that sometimes the magnitude of some dreams can be scary, and he can see perfectly that the Canadian is. CM Punk believes that Kevin should be grateful, because if it weren't for him, right now he wouldn't be in WWE, but in the independent circuit, where he would approach "The Best in the World" to ask for tickets to a company show. "You say I think I'm The Best in the World? No, brother. That doesn't work for me. I know I'm The Best in the World, and they know it too", says CM Punk as he points to the crowd.
Owens acknowledges that CM Punk opened the doors of WWE for talents like him. That's true and something he should be grateful for. "And I should also thank you because you have shown me what not to do, what I should not become, how not to treat the people around me. You taught me that people's egos can inflate so much that they end up believing the nonsense that comes out of their mouths when they call themselves The Best in the World. You must feel very lonely on that pedestal you've climbed onto. So thank you. Because seeing what you've become has led me to decide that I'm not going to let this business turn me into a miserable piece of shit like you," says Kevin. Both men face off. Aldis and several officials enter the ring to ask for calm. Owens and CM Punk continue arguing. KO pushes the Undisputed WWE Champion, at which point the officials have to intervene. The tension continues as the General Manager and the rest of the officials keep the two talents separated. Finally, CM Punk decides to leave the ring to head back to backstage. Cathy Kelley interviews Charlotte Flair backstage. Kelley asks "The Queen" about her fierce rivalry with Jade Cargill, whom she will face tonight in an unprecedented one-on-one match. Flair points out that this story began the day she first locked eyes with "The Storm". At that moment, she knew that Cargill wanted to reach the top. "Tonight I won't fight to be at the top. I won't fight for gold, my legacy, or my career. I'll fight for Lexy. I'll fight for my best friend. The one who brought me back to life. When I held her daughter two weeks ago and had to tell her that mommy would be okay... Jade, now you have my attention. Now you have what you wanted, my focus. Tonight I'm going to kick your ass under my focus. Jade, two alphas, one ring. If you're half the woman you claim to be, you'll come alone. Wooooo!" exclaims "The Queen" before leaving.
Trick Williams delivers a promo in the Gorilla Position. Trick states that Baron Corbin is champion for one reason only: because he cheated to snatch the gold. But he understands, because both know that "The Lone Wolf" could never have defeated him cleanly. Williams assures that tonight he will defeat him, and there will be nothing the champion can do to stop it. "I'll do it for me. I'll do it for Lil Yachty. I'll do it for my title", says Trick before promising to kick the champion's ass in front of the Philadelphia fans. Williams heads through the curtain to head to the ring.
United States Championship Match
Baron Corbin (c) vs. Trick Williams
Williams quickly starts his offensive, causing his rival to end up at ringside. Trick continues to hit the champion, whom he throws over the audience barrier. Williams takes a distance to jump over the barrier and fall on Corbin. Trick continues to attack Baron, whom he throws several chops in front of the fans. Corbin returns to the ring. Williams quickly knocks down "The Lone Wolf", who once again seeks refuge at ringside.
Trick goes after the champion, but this time he surprises him. Baron throws Trick against the metal stairs. The fans boo the champion. Corbin controls the fight back in the ring. The audience continues to boo Baron as he attacks Williams. The challenger tries to recover. Corbin thwarts his plans by violently throwing him against one of the corners and then finishing him off with a clothesline.
Trick starts a counterattack by applying several spinning kicks on Corbin before knocking him down with a flapjack. Williams unleashes a flurry of attacks on Baron in one of the corners to finish him off with a Fireman's Carry. 1..2..NO. Baron blocks an uranage, but he can't stop a spinning kick. The challenger prepares to finish off Corbin with a Trick Shot, but his opponent reverses it into a Deep Six. 1..2..NO.
Williams and Baron exchange attacks. Trick surprises Corbin with a neckbreaker before being expelled from the ring. Williams goes after his Corbin, ready to hit him against the commentator's table, but his opponent escapes to push him against one of the posts. Baron brings the challenger back into the ring. After that, he picks up his championship. The referee quickly takes it away, a moment that Trick takes advantage of to execute an uranage. 1..2..NO.
Baron and Trick continue to block each other. Suddenly, Williams surprises his opponent with a Trick Shot. 1..2..NO. Baron grabs one of the ring ropes to interrupt the count. Corbin rolls to ringside. Trick tries to go after him, but the referee stops him. Williams pushes the official out of his way, a moment that Baron takes advantage of to hit him on the head with the belt. "The Lone Wolf" returns to the ring to cover his opponent. 1..2..3.

We see Nick Aldis talking on the phone with someone. The General Manager asks him to get in touch once he arrives at the venue. Sami Zayn approaches Aldis to congratulate him on his performance at SummerSlam. The Canadian hopes that Nick will also congratulate him. "Here we go...", says Aldis, aware of what will come next. Zayn doesn't take long to raise his tone to reprimand the Brit, accusing him of being responsible for his defeat in the PLE. And it's because the decision to include Gunther in his match prevented him from leaving the event with a title shot. And not only that, but he also added Kevin Owens at the last minute. KO appears on the scene. Owens informs Aldis of his intention to compete for the Undisputed WWE Championship on August 21 in Toronto. "I'll make some calls," Nick replies before leaving.

Besides, to be fair, he defeated Zayn - one of the participants in the match for a title shot at SummerSlam - in the last match he had before leaving the ring. Sami finds it fair. In addition, he prefers to see him as the Undisputed WWE Champion rather than CM Punk. And if he can do something to help... Kevin interrupts to thank him for his offer. In fact, there's no man in that locker room who can step up and challenge me for this title," says Baron before realizing the presence of Carmelo Hayes. "What do you want?" asks "The Lone Wolf". Without a word, Hayes attacks. Melo pushes the champion against a shutter. Corbin is left lying on the floor. Carmelo crouches next to him to make it clear that they have unfinished business. Hayes informs him that he has spoken with Nick Aldis and that next week he will have to defend the gold against him in his home state of Massachusetts. Melo leaves to end the segment.
Chelsea Green makes her entrance in the ring. Fireworks resonate in the venue as the Canadian poses with her WWE Women's Interim Championship. Chelsea thanks the fans for their continued support. They are the reason she came out of SummerSlam as champion. That's why she wants to thank them. Green also wants to thank herself and her new best friend, Tiffany Stratton, who soon appears on the scene. Stratton enters the ring to join the Canadian in her celebration. "Tiffy, I'm really sorry about what happened at SummerSlam, but I know our relationship is stronger than that, right? That said, I called you because I want to make a toast to strong female friendships," says Green. "Chelsea, that's exactly why I'm here. I want to talk to you about something," Tiffany says.
Fatal Influence interrupt!
Jacy Jayne, Fallon Henley and Lainey Reid mock Green and Stratton's celebration. "Tiffany, if it weren't for you, I would have been in Sunday's Ladder Match, and now I would be the one standing in the center of that ring as WWE Champion", Jayne says. Reid points out that, this way, all the members of Fatal Influence would be wearing gold around their waists. "But instead, we have Chelsea Green, the self-proclaimed walking disaster, representing SmackDown. And you know what makes this even worse, Chelsea? That you actually think you deserve it," Fallon says.
Jayne, Fallon and Lainey enter the ring. "Tiffany, you took away my title opportunity. So now you leave me no choice but to take away what you want most. And since your best friend destroyed all your hopes and dreams of becoming Tiffany Two Belts, I asked myself: why not put the final nail in the coffin and take that Women's United States Championship? Then you can be Tiffy No Title", Jayne says with a laugh. Stratton accepts Jayne's challenge. She will give her the title match she wants, but on one condition: Lainey and Fallon must put their Women's Tag Team Championships on the line against Chelsea and her, right here and right now! Fatal Influence hold a small meeting. "We accept," Jayne says before demanding that a referee come out.

Reid and Green start the match. Lainey takes Chelsea down before mocking her. Reid blocks a clothesline, but when she tries to follow up, the Canadian flees to ringside. Lainey chases after the WWE Interim Champion, who takes control once back inside the ring. Chelsea tags in Tiffany. The two team up against Lainey. She surprises Stratton with a facebreaker, only to receive a dropkick in response. Fallon receives the tag.
Henley blocks a armdrag from Stratton and sends her crashing into one of the turnbuckles, where she crushes her. Tiffany surprises Henley with a handspring cutter. Fallon ends up draped across the second rope. Lainey tries to intervene, but Green strikes her. Reid ends up next to her partner. Stratton tags in Chelsea. The two hit the champions with simultaneous knees to the back, sending them to ringside. Tiffany and Green execute parallel suicide dives to complete the assault.
Chelsea and Fallon continue the fight inside the ring. Green climbs up for her next move. Jacy climbs onto the apron to distract the Canadian, allowing Henley to make her fall onto the canvas. Reid receives the tag. Lainey hits a backbreaker on Green before tagging in Fallon. She crushes the Canadian in her corner before following up with a well-placed right hand. 1..2..NO.
Henley hits a neckbreaker on Chelsea, allowing Reid to follow up with a facebreaker. 1..2..NO. Green slaps the champions while looking for an escape route. Chelsea surprises Lainey with a German suplex before finally reaching her corner. Tiffany receives the tag. The United States Champion charges at her opponents. Tiffany hits an Alabama Slam on Reid, followed by a Swanton Bomb. Fallon enters the ring and surprises Stratton with a right hand. Tiffany ends up in her corner, where she tags her partner. The referee signals that a tag has been made.
Green says she isn't ready, but Fallon couldn't care less. Chelsea pulls down the top rope of the ring, sending Henley crashing to ringside. She then exchanges kicks with Reid, knocking her off the top turnbuckle. Fallon returns, only to be surprised with a cutter. Chelsea prepares to finish Lainey with the Unprettier, but Jacy knocks Stratton off the turnbuckle.
Fallon distracts the referee while Green approaches the ropes to check on her partner. Jacy tries to hit a Rolling Encore on Tiffany. Chelsea pulls her partner out of the way just in time, taking the finisher in her place. Furious, Stratton throws Jayne into the crowd barrier. Now Fallon gets her revenge by hitting a dropkick on Tiffany, leaving her sprawled on the floor. Fallon returns to join Lainey. Together, they hit their Fatal Flaw on Green. Henley covers the Canadian. 1..2..3.
Winners and STILL WWE Women's Tag Team Champions: Fatal Influence
Fatl Influence retreat victoriously up the entrance ramp. "It's Jacy Time! See you next week!" a smiling Jayne exclaims. Meanwhile, Stratton helps Green back to her feet. Suddenly, Lash Legend storms into the ring and attacks them from behind. Nia Jax enters the ring as Legend throws Tiffany out of it. Jax stares at the Canadian before leaving the ring. "Give me the f*cking title," she orders a member of the production crew. "The Irresistible Force" returns to the ring to pose with the WWE Women's Interim Championship over Chelsea. And that brings us to the end of this segment.
Cathy Kelley interviews Damian Priest backstage. The Puerto Rican recalls that his history with MFT keeps repeating itself. They defeat the Tongans, who respond by attacking them from behind. Now they are an even bigger threat because they have Haku's leadership. However, he is not afraid of them. He is a former world champion and has R-Truth by his side. So, if MFT want to get beaten up again, they will be more than happy to oblige. The War Raiders appear on the scene, upset about last week's result. Ivar points out that, if it weren't for Tama Tonga and Talla Tonga's interference, they would now be double tag team champions. However, it is only a matter of time before that happens. Erik adds that they first have unfinished business with MFT. R-Truth joins the conversation and confronts The War Raiders. R-Truth makes it clear that they are not afraid of anyone. That's why he spoke with Nick Aldis to set up a Triple Threat for next week with the WWE Tag Team Championships on the line. Ivar and Erik ask if they can really get their revenge on MFT and take home the Wepa Up! gold at the same time. R-Truth remains silent. Satisfied with the news, The War Raiders leave the area. "Last week was a title-for-title match. Next week we'll defend our titles. And didn't Nick mention the AAA titles?", Damian asks R-Truth. "Nick didn't mention the AAA titles," his partner replies. "How convenient," says an annoyed Priest before walking away.
We see a tribute video highlighting Brock Lesnar's career.
Randy Orton makes his entrance. "The Viper" heads toward the ring, stopping several times to look behind his back. Once inside the ring, Orton takes his time posing for the fans before picking up a microphone. "Randy, Randy!" the crowd chants. "Phi..." Orton says before being interrupted by "Kingdom".
Cody Rhodes makes his entrance!
"The American Nightmare" runs into the ring. Orton quickly escapes the ring. Cody challenges him to get back in, but Randy refuses. Rhodes asks for a microphone to address his mentor. "What are you waiting for!? You know this needs to happen in the ring. It's been 100 days. I know you want this. Get in this ring right now!", Rhodes exclaims. Orton pretends he is going to comply, but ultimately backs away again. Nick Aldis appears on the scene with several officials to maintain order. "I know you don't answer to anyone. But after 20 years. After everything we've been through, especially lately, Randy, you owe me an explanation", Cody says. "I owe you an explanation? Are you crazy? I don't owe you anything. Cody, you asked for this, remember?", Orton replies. He recalls how Rhodes gave him permission to bring the best version of himself to WrestleMania 42. "You gave me permission. A fourteen-time world champion. The Viper. The Legend Killer. Well, I played your game at WrestleMania 42. I gave you the best version of Randy Orton, and what did you do? You beat me in the center of that ring. Congratulations", he says. However, something happened at that moment. First, it was the sound of an echo, but little by little, the voices in his head grew louder. So much so that he could hear them with a clarity he had never experienced throughout his career. Sami Zayn vents to Johnny Gargano (who remains lying on a production crate) and Candice LeRae. The Canadian laments once again being left out of the title picture. Sami understands that Kevin Owens needs this match to return to the top, but he still has to admit that he is somewhat envious. And not because he has the opportunity to win the Undisputed WWE Championship, but because he will be able to look CM Punk in the face and tell him that he is a fraud. LeRae gestures for Sami to look behind him. Zayn turns around to find himself face-to-face with CM Punk. He wonders why this keeps happening. He is referring to Sami criticizing him behind his back. Jade Cargill, B-Fab and Michin are talking backstage when Cathy Kelley approaches to interview "The Storm". Kelley mentions Charlotte Flair, prompting B-Fab to interrupt her. B-Fab recalls that they have attacked "The Queen" countless times. However, it seems she still hasn't learned her lesson. Michin points out that Charlotte is envious of Cargill because she is everything "The Queen" wishes she could be. The only thing she is missing is the WWE Women's Championship around her waist. "We all know this is nothing more than business as usual. Now I'm simply going to show her how little respect I have for her by kicking her ass", "The Storm" says before leaving with her teammates.
Nikki Bella delivers a video promo. Nikki recalls her injury before WrestleMania 42. She had worked incredibly hard to compete at The Show of Shows alongside her sister. That's why she made the decision to bring Paige back. And it worked... for a while. "I revitalized Paige's career. And how does she repay me? By losing the WWE Tag Team Championships. Brie deserved better. I did everything I could to return and fight alongside my sister. And once again, Paige failed us", she says. "Paige, because of you, my sister is injured. Because of you, The Bella Twins aren't together right now. So I'm going to make sure you feel the pain Brie is suffering. I'm going to make sure that whatever professional career you have left ahead of you is an absolute nightmare", Nikki promises before leaving.
Shinsuke Nakamura sends a video message to Tama Tonga and Talla Tonga. "Tongans. MFTs. You think you've evolved. Now you have a new leader. But you also have enemies from the past. You say you need to remember who you are. You're wrong. You need to remember who I am. The King of Strong Style. The artist known as Shinsuke Nakamura. I'm back, and this time I won't be alone. Charlotte Flair vs. Jade Cargill
Both women size each other up. Charlotte and Jade lock up. Neither woman gives an inch, which sends them both crashing to ringside. Cargill shoves Flair against the side of the ring to damage her back. She then brings her back inside the ring, where she takes her down with a shoulder tackle. A confident "The Storm" poses for the fans with her back turned to her opponent, who quickly gets back to her feet.
Flair takes her opponent down with a chop block. She then traps her in a headscissors. Charlotte throws Cargill from one side of the ring to the other. Jade rolls to ringside while her opponent continues to wear her down. Cargill approaches the commentary table and drops "The Queen" onto it. Jade grabs Flair and throws her over the crowd barrier.

Jade traps "The Queen" in a grounded headlock. Flair throws several elbows to escape. Charlotte now surprises Jade with a sleeperhold. Cargill breaks free and responds with a spinebuster. 1..2..NO. Charlotte dodges a charge in one of the corners and counters with a German suplex. Both women are left lying on the canvas.
Jade and Charlotte trade attacks in the center of the ring. Flair attempts a handspring clothesline, but her opponent stops her with a pump kick. 1..2..NO. Charlotte gets to her feet using the ropes for support. Jade grabs her and throws her into one of the turnbuckles. Flair kicks Cargill from the apron before launching herself with a diving crossbody. Jade rolls over on the canvas to cover her opponent. 1..2..NO.
Cargill kicks Flair before hitting her with a Torture Rack Powerbomb. 1..2..NO. Jade climbs one of the turnbuckles. Charlotte tries to surprise her with a Stratusphere, but "The Storm" blocks it, lifts her opponent and delivers a tremendous sit-out powerbomb from the second rope. 1..2..NO. Jade and Charlotte trade slaps. Flair dodges a pump kick and responds with a chop block. Charlotte traps "The Storm" in a painful Figure-Eight Lock. At that moment, B-Fab appears on the scene to distract the referee. Meanwhile, Michin grabs Flair by the arms to break up the hold.

B-Fab and Michin stand beside the ring, waiting for Alexa to arrive. However, she shows off her Lily doll. At that moment, the arena lights go out. When everything returns to normal, we see the figure of a woman in black perched on one of the ring posts. It's Tatum Paxley! The former NXT Women's Champion dives onto B-Fab and Michin with a diving crossbody. Meanwhile, inside the ring, Flair grabs Jade and hits her with a Sister Abigail. Charlotte climbs up to finish "The Storm" with a Bow Down to the Queen. 1..2..3.
