AJ Styles retired as a professional wrestler at the last edition of Royal Rumble. "The Phenomenal One" made the decision to hang up his boots to leave the business before his own body was no longer able to keep up. Since then, he has been collaborating with WWE as a scout and mentor of talents, as well as hosting his own podcast about video games and wrestling.
Meanwhile, his legacy could be in the hands of his son Avery, who recently debuted as a professional wrestler in GCW. In fact, the family would be the only reason why fans could see Styles fighting in a professional wrestling ring again. This is how the former WWE champion explained it in the most recent edition of his podcast The AJ Styles Show.
"How long will it take for my son, or my sons, to reach a position that allows me to have the match that really matters with them? If not... I'll be honest with you: I probably won't come back to participate in an independent show, not even if it's to fight alongside my sons. I probably won't do it," he told Chris Van Vliet.
"I don't mind coming back as a special guest, for example, as a manager, but if I do come back, I hope I'm not 60 years old and that it's to participate in a big show. What father wouldn't want to come back and team up with his sons? I don't know if that opportunity will come, because it depends on how long it will take."
According to his words, AJ Styles would be delighted to share the ring with his sons, even if it's as a manager. However, only time will tell if the possibility of teaming up with them exists. Avery, his eldest son, had his first match of his career on August 1st at the GCW Rude Awakening show, where he was defeated by WWE talent Marcus Mathers.
