The meeting of the Lucha Brothers could be closer than it seems. According to a new backstage report, WWE is planning to reunite Penta and Rey Fenix once they finish their current individual business.
During the August 11th edition of Self Made Sessions, Self Made Pro revealed that they have been told to expect the return of the team after the AAA Lucha Libre tournament. "I was told to expect a reunion of the Lucha Brothers once all of this is over," they stated.
WWE has created a convenient path to reach that point. Penta defeated Laredo Kid on the August 10th episode of Monday Night Raw and advanced in the AAA tournament, whose winner will face Roman Reigns for the World Heavyweight Championship on the September 14th Raw in Mexico City.
Fenix is also participating in the tournament, which opens the door for WWE to place the brothers on opposite sides of the ring before reuniting them. Self Made Pro clarified that what follows is their own prediction, but they already envision a logical scenario.
What I would personally expect is for Penta to defeat Fenix in the final. They embrace. Penta faces Roman. That would be a good match in Mexico. In the end, he loses. The Lucha Brothers embrace and reunite as a tag team.
Penta recently told the Dallas Morning News that he knows "in his heart" that the Lucha Brothers will reunite, although both are currently enjoying the opportunity to build themselves separately. Fenix has essentially said the same, and Penta even hinted at a reunion during AAA Rey de Reyes earlier this year, causing the audience to chant the team's name.
Now both are chasing Roman Reigns through the same tournament and, according to reports, a reunion is waiting for them on the other side. Penta promised that the Lucha Brothers would return. WWE may finally be ready to make that promise a reality.
