Good Ol' JR is back home after a delicate operation. The brain surgery he underwent this Wednesday in Norman (Oklahoma) was a success and doctors have given him the green light to recover at home.
The doctors implanted a shunt (a small diversion) to drain the excess cerebrospinal fluid that was accumulating in his brain. The procedure involved drilling a hole in the skull and inserting a thin tube that connects to the stomach, where the fluid is naturally reabsorbed.
Ross explained it himself a day before the operation: "They are going to put what they call a shunt in my brain. They told me I will only be in the hospital today, that surprised me and made me happy".
Conrad Thompson, JR's podcast partner, shared the good news on social media after speaking with the legendary commentator's daughter: "Everything went well this morning. The good old JR should be back home on Friday. Please keep him in your prayers for a speedy recovery".
With the most complicated part already behind him, the focus is now on recovery. Ross, who has faced multiple health issues over the years, was optimistic before going into surgery and now fans are hoping to see him back behind the microphone once doctors authorize it.
