Throughout the last two years we have seen a more aggressive strategy by WWE based on counterprogramming All Elite Wrestling's PPVs. A clear example can be found in the weekend of AEW All In: London, which will share the spotlight with two WWE shows: AAA Ola de Calor and NXT Heatwave, which will air one after the other, coinciding with All Elite Wrestling's PPV.
AEW has chosen to maintain a low profile and not engage in discussions to avoid diverting attention from what really matters, which are the shows and the in-ring action. In fact, some believe that this strategy could be beneficial for All Elite Wrestling, as it will force them to give their best. This is how Darby Allin explained it in a recent interview with Adrian Hernandez.
"I love it. Honestly, I think that's when you do your best work. It's no secret that everyone performs better when they're backed into a corner. I think it's fun. My life doesn't begin and end with wrestling. I have many interests, hobbies, and passions outside of this world. Sometimes I just laugh at this whole wrestling thing because I think: 'There's a whole world out there'. It's like: 'Well, man, whatever'. But, honestly, I think it's going to be fun," he said.
It's no surprise that WWE considers All In to be the most important night of the year for the competition. Last year they counterprogrammed the PPV with up to three shows throughout the weekend: NXT The Great American Bash, WWE Saturday Night's Main Event, and WWE Evolution. It is expected that this strategy will continue for some time.
