Amazing Red was surprised when TNA announced his induction into the Hall of Fame at Slammiversary. The wrestler didn't know anything about the tribute until Frankie Kazarian asked him to stay in the ring after his match for the X Division Championship in the Ultimate X. Red thought Kazarian was going to give him a praise promo, as other rivals had done in his recent matches, but instead, they told him to look at the screen in the background where the news was confirmed.
In an interview with Chris Van Vliet, Red explained that he had been offered the induction on previous occasions and had always declined. "I'm not that kind of guy. I've only done one thing in my life, wrestle, and I think I'm okay with that. When people come and tell me all these great stories, it's like I'm pigeonholing myself. I just do my thing in my lane. The Hall of Fame is a big deal, I don't know, I just didn't want to accept it," he stated.
I know I'm older. But I don't feel ready to enter the Hall of Fame yet. It's more or less the same as you say, because many times I felt like I had left it, and then I returned to wrestling right away.
Red agrees with the perception that the Hall of Fame is often seen as a recognition at the end of a career, and he is still actively competing. "I don't feel old. I know I'm older, but I don't feel like I should be in the Hall of Fame yet. Many times I thought I had hung up my boots and then returned to wrestling. From now on, I'm never going to retire. I'm just going to let it happen. We'll see what happens," he added.
