WrestleMania 42 attendance was lower than the figure announced by WWE, and new data from the Las Vegas Stadium Authority shows how much the event dropped compared to the previous year. According to POST Wrestling, the Stadium Authority recorded 47,093 attendees for WrestleMania 42 on Saturday and 50,033 for Sunday at Allegiant Stadium. That puts the total for the two nights at 97,126, significantly below the 106,071 that WWE announced during the event.

Even more importantly, the same numbers from the Stadium Authority show a significant year-over-year drop. WrestleMania 41 had 58,538 attendees on Saturday and 60,103 on Sunday according to the authority, totaling 118,641. This means that WrestleMania attendance dropped by 21,515 people, or approximately 18%, from 2025 to 2026. It's not just a set of numbers pointing in that direction. WrestleTix estimated 121,540 tickets distributed for WrestleMania 41 compared to 102,092 for WrestleMania 42, a drop of about 16%. WWE's own announced numbers went from 124,693 in 2025 to 106,071 this year, a decrease of around 15%.

So, although the totals are different, the three measurements essentially show the same thing: WrestleMania attendance dropped between 15% and 18% in WWE's second consecutive year in Las Vegas. The Stadium Authority numbers also shed a different light on WWE's original announcement about WrestleMania 42. Shortly after the event, WWE celebrated over 106,000 attendees over the weekend and called WrestleMania 42 one of the highest-grossing events in the company's history. "Over two nights at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, attendance reached 106,072 with tickets purchased from all 50 states and over 69 countries," WWE said.

What exactly the Stadium Authority is counting remains unclear. POST Wrestling noted that it is unknown if their figures represent tickets sold, tickets distributed, tickets actually used, or another attendance measurement. So, the figure of 97,126 should not simply be treated as a direct replacement for the number announced by WWE. But the year-over-year comparison is much harder to ignore. WWE's live event revenues also dropped $33.7 million from the previous year's WrestleMania quarter, with TKO attributing the difference "almost exclusively" to WrestleMania 42 in Las Vegas.

WWE President Nick Khan had already acknowledged that returning to Las Vegas for a second consecutive WrestleMania was his decision and suggested that the company may not repeat that strategy. "That was ultimately my decision. Maybe we won't do that in terms of consecutive, but ultimately it turned out to be a successful event," he said. WrestleMania 42 remains a major event for WWE, and the company noted record digital engagement, 32 marketing partners, and strong business over the weekend. But months after WWE celebrated over 106,000 attendees, another set of numbers has arrived.
