Will Ospreay recently went through one of the most challenging episodes of his professional career. A year ago, the British wrestler was forced to step away from action due to a neck injury he had been dealing with for some time. At that time, doctors advised him not to delay an inevitable appointment with the operating room. A procedure that finally took place in September.
As usual, this operation, and all that it entailed, generated a series of medical expenses, which in this case were quite substantial. Fortunately for the wrestler, the bills were paid directly by Tony Khan. A gesture for which Ospreay will always be grateful. The wrestler explained this in the first episode of AEW's REBUILD & DESTROY on YouTube.
"Tony’s paid for the entire thing, which is crazy. I saw that bill. Oh my God, man. It costs more than my house in England. If you pay for that for my health, I’ll be a little soldier for him for the rest of my life," Ospreay said.
Ospreay returned to action in March of this year to start a rivalry with Jon Moxley and the Death Riders, who were responsible for his injury (in kayfabe). After a fierce war, the British wrestler ended up joining the faction, where he learned to compete more aggressively but safely (something necessary to protect his neck). He is currently scheduled to face Kenny Omega at AEW All In: London, where he hopes to win the company's top championship.
