SmackDown, the blue brand of WWE, recorded its next edition from the Canadian Tire Centre in Ottawa, Ontario, after the airing of Raw, and the tapings have revealed some major bombshells in the lineup. The show will be broadcasted on delay this Friday on Netflix and USA Network.
The main event of the night kicked off with Kevin Owens taking the mic to deliver a promo. CM Punk interrupted the scene, followed by the entrance of Gunther and, finally, Finn Bálor. After the exchange of words, Nick Aldis made official a Triple Threat Match between Owens, Gunther, and Bálor to determine the number one contender. Sami Zayn destroyed the Triple Threat for the title opportunity and cleared the ring using the belt as a weapon to the amazement of the Canadian audience.
However, the main event did not have a clean winner. As the three superstars were destroying each other in the squared circle, Sami Zayn surprisingly interfered, causing an instant disqualification of the match. CM Punk made the save by coming out to the ramp to try to restore order, but Zayn surprised everyone by launching a direct attack and leaving Punk, KO, Bálor, and Gunther lying on the mat, closing the show after hitting them all with the championship belt.
