Drew McIntyre would not be planning to return to WWE's television programming anytime soon. According to PWInsider, the wrestler is already back in the United States after participating in the filming of the reboot of Highlander and The Last Druid, productions in which he worked alongside Russell Crowe and Henry Cavill. Despite having completed his film commitments, there would be no active creative conversations at the moment regarding his return to WWE's weekly programs.

McIntyre's absence does not mean he has stopped working on projects related to the company. Although his return to the ring does not seem imminent, the Scotsman is involved in WWE initiatives outside of traditional competition, including the real action micro-dramas that the company is preparing with ReelShort. These projects also feature the participation of Jacob Fatu and Joe Hendry, keeping McIntyre associated with WWE while he remains away from the usual on-camera activity.

During his time away from WWE, McIntyre has continued to share updates on social media and has shown that he is maintaining his physical preparation. His last match took place at WrestleMania 42, where he faced Fatu in an unsanctioned match. Since then, he has not been given an announced date to return to the ring nor has it been indicated what role he might play when he reenters the company's storylines.

McIntyre had been involved in one of WWE's most significant moments earlier this year by defeating Cody Rhodes and capturing the Undisputed WWE Championship. However, his reign was short-lived: Fatu's return and interference during a title defense on SmackDown in January quickly changed the course of the story. For now, any speculation about his next match or opponent belongs solely to the realm of possibilities, as there are no confirmed creative plans for his return.
