Zilla Fatu caused a great stir after his debut on WWE NXT. The Samoan wrestler caught everyone's attention by attacking the NXT Championship contenders, only to sign his contract with the brand a week later and immediately receive a title shot. However, it seems that his stay in WWE's third brand will be short-lived. This was explained in a recent report by WrestleVotes on Fightful Select.
"WrestleVotes has reported through Fightful Select that, internally, it is expected that Zilla Fatu will reach WWE's main roster in the not-so-distant future. Within the company, they believe that pairing him with his cousins at such an early stage of his WWE career could lay the groundwork for long-term success," the outlet wrote.
"According to WrestleVotes, the promotional video of Zilla that aired on Monday Night Raw was not only designed to help promote NXT Heatwave, the event where Fatu will compete for the NXT Championship, but also served as an initial introduction of Fatu to WWE viewers who may not yet be familiar with him. The idea is to establish that family connection from now on, rather than waiting until the time comes for Zilla to be promoted to the main roster," the report concluded.
Since his arrival in NXT, Zilla Fatu has not stopped mentioning his family. In fact, last Tuesday he showed the pendant with his father's face (the legend Umaga) that he always carries with him. Zilla has insisted that he is not just another "nephew" in the company. This clashes with the fact that he received a title opportunity for the top championship as soon as he arrived. This Sunday, he will face Tony D'Angelo, Cruz Montana, and Grayson Waller for the brand's top prize at NXT Heatwave.
