Damian Priest and R-Truth will have a new opportunity to conquer the AAA Tag Team Championships, although everything points to it being also the last time they team up. The War Raiders issued the challenge during a SmackDown segment and proposed to defend the titles against Priest and Truth on September 11, on the WWE program edition that will be held in Mexico City. The proposal came at a delicate moment for the pair, as Priest seemed willing to end their partnership until Truth intervened and accepted the match on behalf of both.
Priest initially tried to reject the opportunity, but finally accepted after R-Truth committed the team. The former champion made it clear that this match will mark his last fight alongside Truth, a decision that could anticipate a breakup after weeks of tension. On the other hand, Truth does not seem willing to give up the alliance, even after the signs of frustration that Priest has shown after their recent defeats.
The rivalry with War Raiders dates back to July 31, when both teams faced off in a match with the AAA and WWE titles on the line. The match ended in a no contest after the MFTs interfered. Subsequently, a triple threat match for the WWE Tag Team Championships was held, with the MFTs emerging as the winners. Since then, War Raiders have remained linked to the AAA title scene while Priest and Truth try to secure a rematch.
Last week, Priest and Truth challenged the MFTs for the WWE Tag Team Championships, but they failed to secure the victory. After the match, Priest stood over Truth and seemed about to betray him, although he ultimately decided to help him up and patted him on the back. The new defense against War Raiders could be the last chance for both of them to win a championship together before their relationship definitively breaks apart.
