WWE has announced that the qualifying matches for the upcoming Money in the Bank event will begin on the Raw edition of Monday, September 7th. The winners of those matches will advance to the ladder matches that will take place on October 10th in New Orleans, Louisiana.
Those who triumph in the qualifiers will have the opportunity to compete for the Money in the Bank briefcases. The winners of the ladder matches will receive a contract that allows them to challenge for a world championship at any time they choose.
In last year's edition, Naomi and Seth Rollins won the briefcases. Naomi cashed in hers 36 days later, during Evolution, interrupting a match between Rhea Ripley and IYO SKY. She then covered IYO SKY to win the Women's World Championship, although she had to vacate the title after announcing she was pregnant.
Rollins used his contract 56 days after the event, attacking CM Punk and covering him to win the Heavyweight World Championship. Like Naomi, he also ended up being forced to relinquish the title after suffering an injury.
WWE has not yet announced the participants or pairings for the first qualifiers. The company could reveal those details before the next episode of Raw airs.
