John Cena has confirmed that WWE has already defined all the details of the John Cena Classic, although the company is not yet ready to officially present the tournament. The Hall of Famer shared the update during an appearance at Fan Expo Canada.
When asked about the status of the project, Cena initially said he couldn't talk about it. However, he clarified that WWE is no longer just working on the concept: "Normally I would say, 'We are finalizing all the details.' I will say this: we have all the details."
Cena explained that WWE has asked him to keep the information secret until the time of the official announcement. He also hinted that the company will provide a lot of information at once: "You have to be patient with me because they want me to keep it a secret until it's time to tell. We have a lot of information to give you. It just won't be today."
Cena announced the John Cena Classic during WWE Backlash on May 10. The tournament will feature wrestlers from the WWE main roster against NXT talents, but the winner will not be decided solely by wins and losses: the result will be determined by fan votes.
WWE has not yet explained exactly how the voting system will work, which wrestlers will participate, or how many rounds the competition will have. The date and location of the tournament have also not been announced.
The expected timeframe continues to be after Survivor Series and before the end of 2026, although that schedule is not yet finalized. A source described the period simply as "after Survivor Series," with no definitive date at this time.
