WWE could already have its biggest match on the horizon for WrestleMania 43, with Oba Femi heading directly towards Roman Reigns at the grand event. According to Dave Meltzer in this week's Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the current belief is that the company is building towards a Reigns vs. Femi as the main event for WrestleMania 43 on a Sunday in Riyadh in 2027.
The update comes after Nick Khan indicated that key creative plans for WrestleMania are already in motion, barring injuries. Meltzer explained: "The belief is that they are building towards Reigns vs. Femi as the main event on Sunday."
This does not mean that Roman Reigns vs. Oba Femi is officially set. Meltzer was careful to point out that WrestleMania plans often change as WWE approaches the event, especially if there are injuries or other creative changes. Still, the fact that Reigns vs. Femi is currently considered a possible main event on Sunday says a lot about how WWE values Oba.
Meltzer had previously commented on the idea that WWE resisted the temptation to rush a match between Femi and Roman at SummerSlam. His point was that WWE could have used Reigns to turn Oba into an instant megastar, but the company seems to consider the showdown too valuable to spend it anywhere other than WrestleMania.
"They could have put Oba over Roman. They could have said: 'We need to make a new star. Let's put Oba over Roman Reigns at SummerSlam.' They could have done it," he explained.
Instead, WWE paired Oba with Brock Lesnar at SummerSlam after their confrontation on the June 29 episode of RAW. That interaction ultimately led to Oba Femi vs. Brock Lesnar being set for Hell in a Cell. Meltzer previously described WWE's apparent strategy as keeping Oba protected, dangerous, and dominant until the right moment arrives.
"That's the mindset. You position him. The idea is that he's an unbeatable monster, and we take our time to get to WrestleMania," he said.
If that continues to be the direction, Brock Lesnar could simply be another high-caliber obstacle on the path to an even greater destiny. A Reigns vs. Oba Femi headlining WrestleMania would represent a huge vote of confidence in "The Ruler," especially if WWE intends to use Reigns to help solidify him as one of the next true top stars of the company.
