One week after conquering the WWE World Championship for the second time, Sami Zayn has been announced to appear on WWE SmackDown this Friday. Zayn defeated CM Punk for the title last Friday in Mexico City, although under controversial circumstances involving Kevin Owens, Johnny Gargano, and Candice LeRae.
His first reign as world champion ended at the hands of Punk after only nine days, in an episode of Raw in July. Zayn failed to regain the title in a fatal four-way match at SummerSlam and has since interfered in other title matches to alter the landscape.
So far, CM Punk has not been announced for the show. Zayn's appearance adds to that of Cody Rhodes, confirmed last week. Rhodes will offer an "exclusive interview" following his defeat to Randy Orton on Sunday Night's Main Event on Sunday.
Although not yet announced, it is likely that the program will include more qualifying matches for Money in the Bank. For now, the confirmed lineup for SmackDown this Friday includes:
